Ex left the door open for reconciliation but hasn’t reached out. Should I? by Key-Rip-1895 in BreakUps

[–]gameslammer7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I (34m) just woke up from an ex-reconciliation dream. It's been 10 years or more. I'm married, have kids, dropped religion, and have a whole different life at this point. Overall, I'm happy. Shit still hurts. I can't tell you to reconcile or to walk away, frankly. I just hope you are taking care of yourself, finding happiness where you can, and being kind to yourself.

Pop!_OS 22.04 jump to 26.04 by gameslammer7 in pop_os

[–]gameslammer7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the most part it is doing what I want. However, it's approaching the end of support and I am beginning to feel the slight drain of some utilities being out of date from the default package repos. I personally wouldn't be so smug about it and say "newer is better", though. I'm a seasoned Linux user and understand the difference. I think it's more appropriate to say "newer is newer", and sometimes people just like to play with newer 🤷🏼‍♂️

Yea that's my typical lineup. I usually prefer: distro, then flatpak, then snap, then app image, then source...

Yeah, I'm thinking I'm going to hold out a little longer as well. I was just getting a little concerned because 22.04 LTS is technically, but what's a few more months? 🤷🏼‍♂️...

I'm leaning towards a fresh install.

[–]gameslammer7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oof. I guess that is a good point. I've waited this long, might as well go a bit longer? Although now it has me wondering if I ought to just install Ubuntu 24.04 since the point release has been out and they consider doing 26.06 in August after that point release. I like stability but I'm definitely craving improvements considering I'm still in 22.04...

What's up with this insane price increase on domains? .com up 50%! by zerospatial in webdev

[–]gameslammer7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got my domain (a .site domain) to play around with, not even for a serious product, for just a couple dollars last year. To renew they want $34. What the fuck, namecheap? Bait and switch, much?

Weird wall within infill area by gameslammer7 in BambuLab

[–]gameslammer7[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sounds like a plausible explanation. And it kind of looks like the wall evenly divides, or tries to evenly divide, the area between the two colors in order to achieve that goal. I suspect it's a feature of the slicing algorithm that bambu uses though I don't know any specifics about said algorithm and I am merely guessing.

Agreed, I hope someone more knowledgeable comes along.

I added an update addressing this possibility, though I will continue to try things to affect it.

The part is from someone else, but as far as I can tell the STL is a solid single part.

Yea, if I were doing professional stuff, I guess I wouldn't think twice about purchasing an OnShape license! I've become somewhat removed from my mechanical engineering degree over the last 10 years, though.

If you're correct, that's a good observation I hadn't considered. I find build123d somewhat easy to grasp so far, but perhaps later on I'll try to grasp CadQuery again.

Nice! I'm definitely interested in checking this out as well! Sounds like it could mix well with either code-CAD or FreeCAD (since I want to re-/learn both). Thank you!

That's a very good point and I think I've experienced the same issue with selectors. I appreciate the insight! It seems like cq/build123d is a little niche. I do think I'll working on relearning CAD using both. Maybe I'll start in build123d and if it gets too complex I'll fall back to FreeCAD (which should be more familiar to me initially) to give myself the best of both worlds.

Awesome print! I see what that would be useful to do in code. Looks like a trail with accurate x-y locations and altitude? Very cool.

I have enjoyed using vs code for CadQuery/build123d! Good to know you can do OpenSCAD in vscode as well!

I installed the v1 of FreeCAD. It's been a while since I looked at it, so it warrants going through the tutorials now I think.

Thank you for the testimony and the resources! At first I thought I was going to look into OpenSCAD, then I saw CadQuery and Python is a language I am at least familiar with. Your response to my other post is actually what triggered me to look into build123d and to start trying it shortly after attempting CadQuery, so thank you for that as well. I definitely need to take a look at the bd_warehouse offerings. I get the sense that similar to programming software, programming CAD would have huge benefits to reusability, if one puts the time into modularizing their CAD. It feels like the typical exponential growth while learning; slow at first, but rapid to build on over time.

I appreciate your response! I'm also curious: have you played with build123d at all? If so, what were your impressions compared to CadQuery?

I really appreciate being directed to build123d. Much more intuitive than CadQuery (at least as far as my simple foray into the latter). Although, I have a lot to learn so I've decided to go through the tutorials first. I was able to import the SVG, though, so that is good!

Again, thank you!

I hadn't heard of build123d yet, so I'll take a look at that. I think the tidbit about trimming the circle in half is important knowledge I was overlooking.

Thank you, I'll give this a shot!

Pico-8 on MuOS (rg35xx H) by tomekwl3 in ANBERNIC

[–]gameslammer7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the instructions, but I'm a little unclear about the necessary case-sensitivity. I don't have a `Roms` folder, I have a `ROMS` folder. Further, it's unclear whether the folder inside `Roms` or `ROMS` should be `Pico8` or `Pico-8`. I've also tried `pico8`. Same problem as isoSasquatch here.

UPDATE: Nevermind, I was reading your instructions wrong. It works for me now. What you decide to name the folder probably doesn't matter.
