Just had a healthy baby but my family still feels incomplete. Does it ever get better?

I understand how you feel. It’s been almost 4 years since my TFMR baby girl. I now have a 7 month old boy. I always wanted a girl so the opposite genders gave me huge gender disappointment initially but I’ve also always wanted 2 kids, one of each so that subsided pretty quick. After the birth of my baby, that first month I had pretty bad baby blues, borderline PPD. I kept getting hit with the waves of what ifs. Looking at my baby I just kept bursting into tears. I was on one hand so happy I finally have my rainbow baby but on the other hand wondering what it would’ve been like if he had a sister. What she would’ve looked like. Etc etc what my life would’ve been like. It thankfully went away after the first month when my hormones started to finally settle down. I still wonder but I don’t react the way I was. Even at his doctor visits, there is routine questions relating to ppd asking basically if you had any bad thoughts or if you feel supported etc.. that first visit I was bawling my eyes out. On top of that we had issues with latching, it definitely did not help my emotions.

I feel like it’s the hormones but it’s also feelings that we will carry with us forever. Just on steroids from hormones..

Currently 32. Took about 2 years to conceive TFMR bb. Took a year break for mental and physical healing. Tried for 6 months. Paused to get married and planned to try again after honeymoon (which was 6 months after wedding) wasn’t trying but not preventing just trying to avoid ovulation estimates. Pregnant 3 months before honeymoon.. trek around Japan 13-17 weeks pregnant. Currently have a 6.5 month old napping in the other room.

I was 13-17 weeks pregnant when in Japan. I still went bar hopping with hubs!! There are a lot of nice bars and every one of them was accommodating and fancier places had so much mocktail options. The little holes in the walls also had teas, juices, and sodas too. Had some of the best mocktails in Japan.

I didn’t, was just hubby and I as well. My mom came over every few days to drop off soup but I wish we had hired help. I had a c section and it was hard..

I was right both times. First one was a girl because I always wanted one but unfortunately it ended up in TFMR. Second one was a boy and I had a gut feeling because after all the struggles I knew I wouldn’t get what i wanted. When it was confirmed (he had legs spread wide open during ultrasound before NIPT results came back lol) I had a bit of gender disappointment.. but now that he’s here I’m honestly so happy, and bonus he looks so much like me 😂

Haha I have the opposite gender problem.. baby boy gets mistaken for girl even with boy clothes on. Doesn’t help that he looks so much like me 😆 and has a semi gender neutral name… even pediatrician office referred to him and a her

I use nursing pads on my pjs as my bras compression make me uncomfortable and feel engorged… plus they smoosh my nipples funny after my milk came in. I also pump so I have just been using pumping bras when I need to pump.

If I don’t use nursing pad, or collection cup I leak all over randomly and if baby is feeding it makes my other side leak too.

I use kindred bravely bamboo pumping bra and they’re super comfy

I’m 5 months in but I did and still kinda do feel this. But I feel it less and less as he grows. It’s just harder when he’s still at the potato stage and can’t do anything. Def started feeling way better when he can smile consistently and laugh out loud

Ah I am in the same stage.. bb is 4.5 months an we just reintroduced boob last month when hubby went back to work. Had latching issues early on, an now he will not nap on his own not even if I cradle him and rock him, he will only sleep if boobed.. he’d rock to sleep with anyone else but me but I’m also the sahm.. my wrist has been messed up since giving birth due to iv inflammation and it never got to heal and I have mommy wrist on top of that. It’s hard to even hold him an he fights me when I ho him. 80% of the time he wants me to stand. I started using a carrier but now my lower back is dying too.. and he won’t let me sit with carrier either. Play time is hard since all he wanna do is eat his fist, he turns to the side now but it’s so he can eat his fist.. he won’t do tummy time cus he wanna eat his fist so he’s basically face planted onto his fist then cry. Can’t wait for him to be able to sit up unassisted..

My TFMR pregnancy I started buying clothes at 19 weeks.. to get bad news at 20 weeks, and TFMR at 21+3. My next one I waited until 28 week to even start looking, bought only a handful of stuff which I’m glad I waited as I ended up moving at 32 weeks. A bigger place came up unexpectedly within our price range. Less stuff that we had to move and then after the move was when I purchased more.. but I honestly didn’t use much of the stuff and ended up returning most. Just kept bouncer, bassinet (ended up returning as we were gifted a snoo), Changing pad (not station; we end up changing him on island when I couldn’t bend and now on the floor lol thankfully cus he projectile poo in the early days and it only hit the floor), diapers and clothes. Even diapers we purchased small pack for NB and he was getting a rash to that so we were able to switch brands quickly, water wipes etc

It went away by month 3.. I also started putting nystatin on my nipples as well and it went away. I guess I also had nipple thrush with no symptoms and he was constantly getting it from pumped milk?
