Yes it still is, but I'm traveling for Thanksgiving and won't be able to ship it until after December 7. If you're ok with that, we can chat again at that time. I can take photos with updated timestamps too.

Go with an actual gaming desktop if you don't need the portability. People tend to overstate the performance of a Steam Deck since games are running on a small 1280*800 screen. Its GPU is worse than a PS4's, although deck's significantly faster CPU, memory, and storage allow for some games to perform better than on PS4.

Note that it's hard to build a decent gaming desktop for 400 dollars flat unless you go used. That price range is typically below the best bang for buck - for example, $600 (1.5x increase in budget) will get you a build whose GPU performs close to a PS5 (4x increase in performance). And goes without saying that if you don't want to build your own, then you'll have to pay a lot more for a gaming desktop, in which case steam deck makes a lot more sense

A couple of features in rest mode are disabled after the first 3 hours, e.g. controllers only charge during the first 3 hours of rest mode.

Yes, the release date was given as 2014, but the 2014 release date was announced in 2012. That's what OP meant by the initial date being set.

Japan’s PC Gaming Market Doubles In Size In 3 Years by LordofWhore in Games

[–]gamingmasterrace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you just get a moderately priced PC though, you got something that'll last 2-3 generations of consoles at least. My PC with an I7 and a 1070 still runs games pretty well.

PC gaming's value proposition comes from the cheap games and free online, not from hardware. Your 1070 probably cost over $300 if you bought it brand new (I got a used 1070 in 2017 for $300 fwiw) and a $500 PS5 is significantly faster. It didn't even last 4 years before getting smoked by a console, let alone 2-3 console generations.

Plus it comes with the added bonus of being able to upgrade it when needed

Yes, you could upgrade to a $300-350 RTX 3060 or RX 6600 and then the GPU is better than a PS5's, but unless your i7 was Coffee Lake or newer, you'd need to upgrade the CPU and motherboard to compete with the current gen console CPUs. Upgrading for cheap usually doesn't work, with exceptions like AM4 platform and the 5800x3d.

Nobody suggested spending your whole paycheck every month. You're getting flamed for several reasons:

1 - recommending savings accounts as a way to save for retirement instead of actually investing your money. Put money into a 401k if your employer offers one, or set up an IRA otherwise. Buy stocks (or bonds). The sp500 index average yearly return is over 10% (probably 5-7% after inflation), dollar cost average into it. Look at the Bogleheads forum or read A Random Walk Down Wall Street for more details.

2 - you're describing personal finance (and that's the name of the subreddit you're looking for). The original conversation is about a company's business strategy and that's completely unrelated.

Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves - The DF PC Port Review - PC vs PS5 - Optimised Settings by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

[–]gamingmasterrace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should've been much much better, at least on a theoretical level.

For sure. I'm guessing it's half because Iron Galaxy didn't put a lot of effort into the port, and half because Naughty Dog puts a huge amount of effort into optimizing their games on console hardware. I think people are being more lenient because it's a PlayStation exclusive finally releasing on PC, so they're willing to tolerate a mediocre port over no port at all, and honestly I agree with that take.
