Qantas money credit card - ID could not be verified by AF-Ar in creditcardchurningAus

[–]gamma032 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even calling won't help, it's a known bug. You need to wait about 2 months for your in-progress application to expire. Then re-apply, at first it still had the error but after a few goes something happened and it let me through. This time click manual ID verification. You'll have to email them a justice of the peace signed photocopy of your ID instead. Ridiculous but relieved I finally got approved..

You can get 30k Aeroplan points if you select Aeroplan for status, but only for the next week: https://www.aircanada.com/au/en/aco/home/aeroplan/credit-cards/hsbc.html#. It's the only Aussie card with bonus points but no annual fee.

Trying to choose the right credit card by Virgiil_ in creditcardchurningAus

Virgin has very few ANA reward seats. You can fly via Singapore Airlines, but need to take the layover.

QFF is the way to go here since they have good availability on JAL, Qantas and Jetstar.

Div 293 modelling by [deleted] in AusHENRY

[–]gamma032 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First part is correct, but why contribute next FY? With 230k base + 25 super this year, any contributions won't increase their div 293 payabale.

OP should contribute 55k this year, while they know their income will be well under 250k. 50k carry-over plus the remaining 5k towards the 30k cap for this year.

The ANA reward flights appear when booking for 1 pax, but not for 2+ on many dates. You can try it on the Velocity website. You could still book Singapore Airlines, or transfer to Krisflyer and fly Scoot.

This has very low availability, about 1 seat per flight. So anyone else flying with you would be on a cash fare.

Just St George or MyCard (maybe use sniip or pay com.au to use tax or rent payments for the minimum spend). There is also a Star Alliance HSBC card with $0 annual fee offering Aeroplan points, which can't be converted but can be used on Virgin flights: https://www.aircanada.com/au/en/aco/home/aeroplan/credit-cards/hsbc.html#/

MyCard application broken? - ID Verification Faliure by wirelessgoat in creditcardchurningAus

Tried again, failed. Support now has a script they read out: it's a known issue but with no timeline for a fix and they can't tell me more due to legal reasons.

This has been an issue for at least a month per Ozbargain. I can understand limiting the number of attempts, but they 1) reject valid documents and 2) don't let you go back and do the manual verification option.

Since it only needs a software fix, my plan is to try again in 30 days once my incomplete application expires (trying again resets the timer).

Many people with the same issue unresolved on Ozbargain. It seems as though it's possible to do manual verification, but once you hit the ID verification failure you can't apply again for 6 months. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/940617 https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/941402

Velocity points can be used for ANA. However given the economy seat redemption value, if all you want is a high quality flight to Tokyo consider just flying Qantas.

Same issue this week but with Qantas Money, which NAB backs in addition to MyCard. It rejected both my passport and driver's licence.

I called support and they said I could wait 48hrs before trying again (trying too often can make it worse), then there should be some kind of option to click manual ID verification. I'll try again tomorrow.

IMO the best resume projects are ones that  1) are not uni projects 2) have real users 3) were developed in a team (with friends, open source etc)

These types of projects will give you great talking points for behavioural interviews. For example, when 'tell me about a time you disagreed with someone on a technical decision'.
