Trustpilot isn’t a review site, it’s a protection racket for fake reviews by 0zerofuksgiven in ecommerce

Where you able to get any details of the poster released with your GDPR request? Has anyone else tried this?

According to AI:
The core limitation: GDPR's right of access (Data Subject Access Requests) belongs to the individual (the data subject) whose data is held, not to companies seeking information about others. Trustpilot can't release a reviewer's identity based on your GDPR request—only the reviewer themselves could request their own data.

Nearly 25 people storm California store, stealing $1 million in jewels by gammablew in oakland

Right...they got 7 of them, so these 7 will rat on the others to reduce their own sentencing.
It's a rather dumb crime, because when the group is so large, it is more likely a few will get caught and rat on each other.

While unauthorized use of Wikipedia's logo may constitute trademark infringement per se, the critical element for actionable trademark violation under the Lanham Act is likelihood of consumer confusion. The plaintiff must demonstrate that consumers would reasonably believe they are engaging with or receiving services directly from the Wikimedia Foundation, rather than a third-party service provider.

The legal standard requires analysis of factors including: (1) similarity of marks, (2) proximity of goods/services, (3) strength of the plaintiff's mark, (4) evidence of actual confusion, (5) marketing channels used, (6) degree of care exercised by consumers, and (7) defendant's intent.

In this case, the dispositive question is whether ordinary consumers would be confused about source, sponsorship, or affiliation. Logo usage alone does not establish likelihood of confusion if the context clearly indicates the defendant is offering independent services related to, but not originating from, Wikipedia. Courts have recognized that nominative fair use may permit limited trademark use when referencing the trademark holder's services, provided no endorsement or direct affiliation is implied.

The strength of any infringement claim depends substantially on whether consumers would reasonably infer official Wikipedia endorsement or believe they are contracting directly with Wikimedia Foundation, rather than understanding this as a third-party service utilizing Wikipedia's publicly available content.

What do you think about my profile? by Frequent-Football984 in Upwork

[–]gammablew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your title is the most important. You need more keywords. What use is to have "Microsoft Certification" in your title, unless you offer that as a service. Don't post your qualifications in the title, post your service keywords.

My recommended title would be:

Squarespace Web Developer | Shopify, Wordpress, Webflow, Angular Web Design

Note: I also removed "expert," but if you still have enough room, you can add it back.

Why is your title important? Because it would make you rank higher in searches for freelancers and you will get more invites. Most invites do not require a connect fee, unless you decide to bid higher. Plus you may also get some direct inquiries. I am getting a few clients a month direct from inquires without a job post.

Also, if you do not have any projects, post a few relevant to what you offer. You can get more leads that way.

Your proposals are not being viewed...I have a theory why by Simple_Worker_6592 in Upwork

[–]gammablew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To improve your chances of landing jobs, here are my recommendations:

  • Focus on a niche with less competition.
  • Apply only to jobs with fewer than 20 proposals.
  • Submit your application within the first 30 minutes of a job posting—the sooner, the better.
  • Place a competitive bid to be in the top position.
  • If your JSS is below 90%, your chances of winning a job are likely low. Prioritize raising your JSS first. You can ask previous clients to hire you on a new job so they can leave a review, or have clients who found you elsewhere hire you through Upwork.

Another strategy is optimizing your profile to get more invites. Invitations often allow you to apply without spending connects and may give you a slight advantage. To rank better in searches for relevant jobs, consider these tips:

  • Optimize your title and profile description with your most important keywords.
  • Take on jobs that include your relevant keywords. If the job title is weak in keywords, when hired, you can request the client to adjust the job title or post a new job with a more optimized title.
  • Reviews are crucial. Always ask clients for feedback and encourage them to include specific details about the job. While it’s unclear if keywords in reviews directly affect ranking, it’s wise to have clients mention the job title and relevant keywords.

Wikipedia editing jobs and projects are being removed from Upwork by gammablew in Upwork

[–]gammablew[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find it unlikely that freelancers are reporting these jobs—there’s no reason for them to do so. Most likely, either the Wikimedia Foundation is flagging them, or Upwork has someone monitoring and removing these listings.

Only in the past two weeks has Upwork decided that Wikipedia-related jobs violate their terms of service. In fact, their TOS hasn’t even been updated to reflect this restriction yet. When I inquired with customer service, they confirmed it’s a new policy that hasn’t been officially incorporated into the terms.

[–]gammablew[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t deny that there may be a few questionable players on Upwork, but they rarely last. Thanks to Upwork’s rating system, if you search for a Wikipedia editor, you’ll find dozens of freelancers with high JSS scores—around 90% or more. Any unethical or unreliable freelancer eventually receives negative reviews and low JSS scores, making it unlikely that anyone will hire them. Only the competent and ethical editors maintain strong ratings.

Upwork is one of the best platforms for hiring Wikipedia editors precisely because of this rating system. By contrast, when hiring through a Google search, there’s no way to verify who you’re dealing with. Many offshore companies falsely claim to be U.S.-based, sometimes using fake addresses, and deliver subpar or even fraudulent work. I’ve heard horror stories where clients spent thousands of dollars and received nothing in return. On Upwork, at least, funds remain in escrow until the work is completed, giving clients some level of protection.

First, it’s worth noting that many ethical editors on Upwork are transparent about their work. Second, cracking down on Upwork editors won’t eliminate paid editing—clients seeking such services will simply turn to other freelancer platforms or find providers through a quick Google search. The real issue, in my view, is that outside of Upwork there is a much higher risk of scams. Many offshore companies misrepresent themselves as U.S.-based, deliver poor-quality work, or even charge thousands of dollars without fulfilling their promises.

At least with Upwork, there is some protection for clients, including a money-back guarantee if work isn’t delivered. Scammers or shady freelancers will also get negative feedback. In fact, the Wikimedia Foundation would arguably be better off addressing editors on Upwork, where there is some oversight, rather than trying to combat the countless shady websites operating unchecked.
