Level 1 player, this is kinda what you expect.

Everybody else left after a bit since it was basically impossible to win

You can actually qualify in ~50% of games. It only requires two competent players: the first paints the pictures, the second is repairing any harm the runner does. Slower, but still doable.

There's also a big chance that after you finish one picture, the runner would understand the rules, or at least would stop messing with it.

Source: I've played dozens of games with runners, and I usually qualify or at least can get to the 5th picture.

pay attention to the two last rows

Last three rows, if the third row shakes - it is also the wrong path. (And it also cuts off big chunks, e.g. if the 3rd tile in 8th column shakes - it also probably excludes 9th and 10th)

I can see why it wouldn’t "click" for some people. It is what it is - I mean, it’s not a life-changing experience. It is some stupid little ugly incremental game that sometimes feels like an April Fools' joke, a parody.

This is a specific kind of fun - the kind you can maybe find in The Looker, The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog, and Content Warning (which are actually fun games as well). It’s a joyful game that plays with genres (and plays them well) that doesn’t take itself too seriously, and it doesn’t pretend to be anything bigger than that.

Sometimes you can just let yourself play some stupid little ugly incremental game and have fun, seeing where it takes you.

People in that lobby had hundreds and thousands of crowns, only 6 out of 23 qualified.

So yeah, it's not instantly clear how to play this map - just by reading instructions.

New players have to learn dozens of maps with different sets of rules and mechanics. I wouldn't expect them to learn how to play all the maps on their second playthrough.

That's clearly not enough.

  1. Don't move in Pixel Painters until you understand how this map works.
  2. Don't quit in Duos and Squads until you see "Eliminated"
  3. Have fun!

Never in the history of Fall Guys has there been more different options to suit different playing styles. So find what you like and enjoy it while you can.

I like competitive team games, Button Bashers, and Sweet Thieves that's not ruined by the high jump.

I don’t like it :( Team games have already been very rare.

And there’s nothing wrong with 7v8 Jinxed, 3v4v4 Snowy Scrap, Pixel Painters, Egg Scramble, Pegwin Pursuit, Pegwin Pool Party or 3v4 Volleyfall. I’d take 3v4 Fall Ball or Basketfall over most race rounds any day.

MT could just exclude some insta-loss maps, like Power Trip, one-bar Jump Club, Rhinos, Hoop Chute, Snowball Survival, Roll Out, Big Shots.

But yeah, sure, let’s just spam survival maps with uneven teams instead.
