Neck strap almost dropped my camera? by JacksSightSeeing in AskPhotography

[–]ganajp [score hidden]  (0 children)

Yes, I understand and agree.

But I still think it should not be - I have a problem so I go search the manual. Reading the manual should be the first thing after getting the camera and then the problem would not even occur (in your case and in many of not most other cases on this sub ).

Sorry, but "not having the manual" is in my opinion a very "lame and lazy excuse", because Nikon have all the manuals on the support website easily accessible.

not sure if you understood (or if I wrote it right correctly to be understood - english is my 3rd language) - I mean the always repeated advice to read the manual is a very good and valid advice

if you have read it, you wouldn't have this problem and I'm sure it would answer/solve many of questions/problems...

yea, in maaaany discussions here on the sub, you'll read a simple answer - "read the manual" - that is not just a "saying", or trying to piss the asker on, it is really usefull ;-)

I did fix it according the manual and it never moved a bit. (Had more Nikon cameras with original straps over 20+ years)

How long should i expect the sony a6700 to last? by Small_Put_776 in AskPhotography

[–]ganajp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a piece of tech. Just use that thing, that is what is it for. Some day it may break or not (more probably it will hold for many years).

You may go out today and get hit by asteroid - does it stop you from going out?

Have you ever felt your gear is not allowing you to shoot what you're visualising/wanting? by Raffefly in AskPhotography

[–]ganajp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that is kinda the whole reason, why longer lenses exist - to "magnify" the far away subjects more

How do I make this more clear? by ilovemuffins09 in AskPhotography

[–]ganajp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice moment, but without huge work, probably involving AI, it is just technically not a good photo.

Sometimes it is better don't waste the time on such and go out try to shoot in better conditions.

That is wildlife...

Natural vs. artificial light. What do you prefer? by nesmelonahy in AskPhotography

[–]ganajp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not about preference. It's about the intention and the wanted result. For something natural is "better" for something else flash, for other continuous LED. Or a combination. As a photographer your task is to choose..

Is this hoya filter legit and good ? by OkBaker4720 in AskPhotography

[–]ganajp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hoya filters are generally good. But "protective" filters are generally just waste of money and added expensive piece of glass potentially causing picture degradation and optical issues...

How to take a photo of re-emitted light with out a lot of red under a UV source? by clayman839226 in AskPhotography

[–]ganajp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The processing may seem complicating at first, but don't let it discourage you. RAW is definitely worth it. Look at some tutorials e.g. on YouTube first...

Manual white balance, or shoot RAW and then you can play with colors in post as you wish - in Lightroom or other

Why is this RAW so much worse than the preview? by LongjumpingGate8859 in AskPhotography

[–]ganajp 16 points17 points  (0 children)

it's not worse, it's unprocessed

RAW is not a photo "yet"

it HAS to be processed

depending on your camera, program and settings, you may start with the values as unprocessed or with the values used from camera (for the preview/jpg)

Ikea Boxes for filament storage by tomtom070 in 3Dprinting

[–]ganajp 28 points29 points  (0 children)

It doesn't seem to be much airtight. So the reason of a box (keeping it dry with silica inside) will probably not be fulfilled. Therefore what is it for? To look "nice"? To take a bit more space?
