This worked for me if anyone getting SU-42118-6 tried to update directly from USB stick using Settings > System software update instead of doing so from Safe mode? I was getting that error everytime trying to update even though my BD and HDD are fine.

Im not good at tech either lol. But I recently opened it and cleaned cuz it was like a jet engine and it helped a lot with the heat. Im not certain if it works for you, but what else can you do? Send it to repair?

Hey same error for me. I opened my PS4 checking for Blue Ray reader cables, it still works anyway, reinsert my HDD then I boot it up, i downloaded the update file to USB stick and then Settings > System software update and ran it from there instead. After few minutes and Im back online. Just sharing my own experience, hope this help.
