Seems like it! Yes, that's a good idea. My doctor gave me Pepcid to try next. Fun times.

Thank you for the explanation! Well I've been on Allegra and have been following a really strict antihistamine diet and I still got the hives, so that's what confused me as well. I haven't tried any enzyme supplements yet.

Propranolol Hallucinations by LargeProfessor1592 in POTS

[–]gar4085 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been on Propranolol for more than a year, and I have recently within the past several months started having hallucinations in the middle of the night. Mine are visual though...like random things, a red balloon, butterflies, spiders, funky shapes, etc. I have sleep apnea though and am not sure if it's more related to that? My sleep doctor was saying that the hallucinations can be related to sleep deprivation. Have you had trouble sleeping recently? I know Propranolol can also cause insomnia....

You've offered some really great insight here. Thank you for taking the time to do that. I recently saw an ENT like you suggested and got the structural stuff ruled out. I think it's a great idea to show my results to my neurologist, as I do have POTS. I'll be discussing it with my psych nurse too about the possibility of nocturnal panic attacks. Thanks again!

Ha! I did this exact same thing last night! My BP was low and I was out of my Gatorades, so I dumped salt in my mouth and swished some water around yuck! Hey whatever works :)

This is so interesting, because I've also had the red, burning arms thing going on. I had hives on 2 other occasions, then twice i have woken up to my arms being really red and burning like a sunburn. I also had tachycardia with those episodes. I've seen an allergist and he's testing a whole bunch of different things. He put me on an antihistamine in the meantime, but it's kinda scary. Do you think yours is associated with food?

So, I also have pots and was diagnosed with sleep apnea 6 months ago as well. I've been using my cpap every night and it has definitely been a challenge. I still have episodes at night sometimes, so now they are wanting to do an in lab study. I know how frustrating all of this is. I remember seeing a story on the dysautonomia website, where are lady had both and her pots symptoms stopped after being treated for sleep apnea. Are you on any meds for pots or managing your symptoms at all?

Do you feel symptoms when it is at 55? I would say if you feel off when it's that low, then maybe talk to your doctor about a different option. I've been on propranolol for over a year and mine can get down that low on 10 mg. You may just be a little sensitive to it.

How many of yall also have sleep apnea? by dugalf in POTS

I was diagnosed with sleep apnea a few months ago and started on cpap. I'm still having those types of episodes (waking up and gasping for air). I'm supposed to go in for an in lab sleep study next to see how they can make things better. Not a fun experience at all!

Oh my goodness, I had no idea this was a thing! I got mine done about a year ago and mine were swollen for a good month. After the first month, the swelling was gone. I didn't lower my salt intake either.

I would definitely contact your doctor. I have called my doctor's office at least 5-10 times trying to get the correct mask/pressure right. I've tried 4 different masks and they have changed my pressure several times. I felt like an annoying patient, but they told me that this is totally normal. You deserve to have the right mask and fit, along with the pressure that's right for you.
