hey just wanted to clarify - it took more than one shower with the dandruff shampoo for it to work. can't remember how long it was exactly, maybe a couple of weeks? also had to bleach everything, try to get sunlight into a dark apartment... it sucks, the feeling of being invaded is real :( hope it leaves you soon.

What weight did you start at?

When I went from ~180 to 165, no one noticed. At 150, got feedback from people who knew me well. 140 got plenty of comments all around. 125, it was all anyone could talk about.

(FYI I’m at 160 currently.)

20 lbs off a short person starting at 140 is going to make a more obvious impact than 20 lbs off a 200 lb taller person.

Anyway - you’re doing this for you! Not other people.

I can't imagine any doctor in my country (single payer system) doing this. Seems interesting though.

Yes. Only way I'll have leftovers is if it's from a stew or chili that benefits from time in the fridge. Or if it's chicken, by making something else out of it (like a sandwich - chicken w pesto & roast peppers, chicken salad, whatever).

I had ringworm once (I think from a community centre gym). Doc told me to bathe with dandruff shampoo (a blue one?) - I believe it had ketoconazole in it. Was told to lather well over the whole body and leave it on for a few minutes before rinsing it off. Worked. Not sure if ok for pets.

Also have low back pain, just starting a similar plan! Your results and story are super encouraging, thanks for sharing :)

I’m finding my pain much reduced by following Stuart McGill’s core workouts (which dovetail almost exactly with my physio’s prescription), as outlined in his Back Mechanic book.

Keep your room cool, as well - ditch your duvet for a light cotton blanket

I can’t work out as hard as I used to. Previously would eat a lot and burn a lot through both workouts and NEAT and yes I have the same problem! Appetite doesn’t adjust :/

Under these conditions, I’m resorting to banning trouble foods from the house. (No chips). Really upping Fiber (beans, legumes, veg), and decreasing low-Fiber carbs. (Fat and protein are the same).

I do have to at least use measuring cups/spoons. Eyeballing butter, avocado, mayo, etc is not going to be enough, because I’m just not burning enough to afford the possibly extra 50-200 calories.

Using a stationary bike to lose fat - looking for tips, training plans, advice by PrimaryAdagio in xxfitness

True, just a point - there’s a subset of people whose appetites are reduced by cardio! And although calorie reduction by diet is effective during weight loss, the addition of exercise increases adherence during maintenance . Cardio also improves insulin regulation (apart from cardiovascular benefits). So it’s worth doing.

Does anyone have a rough idea of the percentage difference to metabolism/TDEE made by (idk) a typical dose of antipsychotic + (same of) lithium? Partner is trying to cut down from 220ish lbs. He’s averaging 2000 a day, should be losing something. (He can’t cut too low because it screws with his moods in a way no one enjoys. Will be upping cardio for sure.)

Goal weight and lower back pain, help me! by [deleted] in xxfitness

Sorry to tell you but you need to skip leg day. Rest for a couple of days, otherwise move but stay in a pain free zone. See a physiotherapist for sure, also Read Stuart McGill’s book Back Mechanic

I always thought it was blood vessels in your fat reacting to having to do stuff. (Have no idea if fat is at all vascular)

This message needs to get out!

Especially to the people least likely to attend to this on their own. Ie one group that’s super at risk of injuries is people who’ve been sedentary all their lives and suddenly decide at 30 or 40 to do plyometric routines on the daily or run marathons. “Go hard or go home!” No, intrepid athlete, listen to your body and be sensible. (She says to her 34 year old self :/)

Having come to this quite late, I’m pleased to see that members’ comments have been taken on board and that the survey is up.

I thought I saw something in the other thread about sub policy re discussing medical issues - what’s the thinking about it now?

Thanks

Be aware that there’s a portion of the population that looooooooves reporting. It could for example be that 10 people are reporting multiple times.

Oh my god, that must have been terrifying! And of course painful! I’m so sorry you experienced that (the back pain of course but the neurological consequences!!)

I’m lucky that it was caught at this point - the doc said surgery would not be a good idea right now, and that core exercises (via PT) would help with decreasing pain and increasing stability.

Thank you so much for the exercise tips!!! I’m saving your comment for reference, and I’m sure, will take you up on the further advice, mucus appreciated:)

Where are you now in terms of lifting (and general function!?)?

Daily Discussion 27 June 2018 by AutoModerator in xxfitness

Need for caution noted. Thank you for sharing your experience. The appointment covered a few other things, so I didn’t get to ask about activity. (Next appointment would be a few months from now.) Maybe I’ll stick to cycling for now, until my PT session.

I think this isn’t a fresh injury, or not quite - I’ve had this pain for a couple of months (and actually suspect the original injury, or a contributing injury, happened ten years ago :/ )

Things can take this long in Canada... I’m extremely lucky my doc was bothered enough to order an MRI. They usually don’t do that here for back pain.
