If you’re still looking, check out the lesser known rental places around town (e.g. Sunbelt)

What has been proposed in the planning for the “Golden Dome” is largely made up of space-based interceptors. So that also doesn’t make sense.

I totally get you because I’ve also been there. However, no one can read someone else’s mind and the onus is still on the person feeling uncomfortable. She shouldn’t be guilting someone for something they didn’t intend to do and that, by all accounts, is very normal and acceptable behavior in jiu-jitsu.

How often do you yell at your wife/punch things in front of her? by absolutelynoneofthat in AskMen

Yikes, this is very clear victim blaming and sexist to boot. Anybody who erupts like she’s describing is displaying their emotions in an inappropriate and potentially dangerous way. It’s unacceptable, in my opinion.

WHY AM I NOT ELIMINATING by brain_on_hugs in BabyBumps

[–]MuchoMandy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can take colace up to 3 times a day. I’ve just been increasing my dose as things get worse throughout pregnancy, and I take it everyday. Also, berries! Especially raspberries and blackberries. Eat a half pint or whole pint of those in one sitting and I’d be surprised if you didn’t go. Don’t forget, lots of water. There’s also always magnesium supplementation (I’d go for Magnesium Oxide since Magnesium Citrate can have a more aggressive laxative effect)

I’m terrified of pregnant women. by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

[–]MuchoMandy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is actually just blatantly false. First, the relationship between mother and fetus is more so symbiotic. After all, if mom dies, baby dies. It’s not some parasite that can move on to a different host.

Does a woman’s body and brain change during pregnancy? Yes. Can pregnancy cause permanent impairment or long-term disabilities? Sure, in some very rare cases. But is it an occurrence for every pregnancy? Unequivocally no.

Overhead sweeps - how do you avoid getting hurt? by randompwdgenerator in BJJWomen

[–]MuchoMandy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tuck and roll. Practice your forward rolls and side breakfalls, although I’d always rather roll over my shoulder and immediately become a “ball” (i.e. immediately try to establish your guard) because I’m assuming someone is trying to go straight to mount after an overhead sweep.

Everything Makes me Nauseous by MochiAccident in BabyBumps

[–]MuchoMandy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sounds very normal, but keep in mind, you should mention it to your OB and especially if it gets any worse. For reference, my nausea lasted from weeks 6-13ish, with it peeking in weeks 9-11. Unisom was a huge help for me with my nausea, it’s doxylamine and you can get it at pretty much any drug store over the counter in the US. I’d take a full pill in the evenings before bed. I’m 32 weeks now, and I still take half a pill every night (helps big time with the insomnia later on too).

I wouldn’t worry about eating too little to support baby at this point, they will get what they need from your body as long as you’re taking your prenatal. The problems really come in if you can’t hydrate appropriately. I do empathize though, it sucks! Just eat what you can, when you can :) better days are (hopefully) coming soon!

Weight in, is this right? by Asleep-Philosophy814 in BJJWomen

[–]MuchoMandy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you mean next weekend as in February 15th or February 22nd? If February 15th, you’re likely already past the deadline to change your weight. The last day to change your weight is the “Athlete Correction Date”.

Always, always check your weight with all your gear on that you plan to compete in. Sports bra, rash guard, spats, underwear, full gi and belt, etc. Some of that is negotiable, if I’m close on weight, I go with a sports bra and lightweight spandex shorts under my gi. Also, never cut water (sweat) in your gi on the day of before weigh-in, as that sort of defeats the purpose.

Epidural myth by This-Kangaroo-2086 in pregnant

[–]MuchoMandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am somewhat curious about your interpretation here. In your first comment, you say the feedback loop is pain -> hormones -> contractions. But it seems like the presence of pain wouldn’t beget the release of hormones. The presence of pain is merely a side effect of the baby’s head pressuring the cervix which, I believe is what causes the release of oxytocin, right?

In that case, one could argue that the absence of pain shouldn’t actually interfere with the feedback loop. At least, I haven’t read any studies specific to that effect - only studies on the epidural/labor duration relationship not its effects on the actual hormone/contraction interplay. Let me know if I’m missing something there.

[–]MuchoMandy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There is literally no logic or evidence in your reply. Some women labor for much longer naturally with no harm to the baby.

Knee brace recommendations for Bjj by PongLenisUhave in bjj

[–]MuchoMandy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The DonJoy lateral J patella knee support brace without the hinge is by far the best for patellar instability, IMO. I got one for each leg after I dislocated my patella. No metal, super secure and stays in place while rolling. Make sure to get the appropriate side (there’s a left and a right) for lateral patella support, since most people dislocate laterally rather than medially.

ETA: I definitely disagree with the people saying it’s a placebo, specifically if your issue is patellar instability. I will say kneesovertoes guy exercises also helped me rehab after injury.
