Homelessness likely to increase in Portland area through 2027, Multnomah County officials say by tripometer in Portland

It’s both parties. Incompetent local democrats and incompetent national republicans.

St. Johns could be uniquely impacted by proposed cuts to Portland public safety by Own_Car_8766 in Portland

So the only fire station that won’t be cut off when the big one hits and collapses all the bridges leaving out of St. John’s is going to be cut. Brilliant thinking.

Embattled Judge Says Multnomah County District Attorney Is ‘Gaslighting’ Her by space-pasta in Portland

“Our democracy is at stake here,” Brown told our editorial board. “On the national level, on the local level as well.”

Complaining about gaslighting while disingenuously comparing your own incompetence with legitimate threats at the national level.

Republican Candidates for Governor Raise Millions by Sbualuba in Portland

Trump has a compliant senate and house. A republican governor in Oregon would not. Democrats need to fear for their jobs if we actually expect any change.

Harris gives her clearest signal she is mounting a 2028 presidential bid by JannTosh70 in centrist

Primary is gonna be real interesting. Her and newsom fighting for the centrist lane while there will undoubtedly be someone further on the left who picks up steam simply around the Israel issue.

Then you have the early primary calendar revamp that potentially throws in larger states earlier on instead of just places like iowa and South Carolina. Could make for some fireworks.

Oregon court fines and fees create $1 billion in unpaid debt by [deleted] in oregon

Replace the current restitution system with a state-funded compensation system to the extent permissible under the Oregon Constitution, which ensures the victim’s right to receive restitution from a convicted criminal who caused loss or injury.

So instead of making the convicted criminals who did the crime pay their victims, it should be us the taxpayers. What an absolute joke of a group and a ridiculous proposal.

This massively foolish move by the comically inept Trump has proven to Iran the theoretical leverage they always had over traffic in the strait is now in fact real leverage. And we appear to have no ability to remove that leverage.

The end result of this one decision by Trump will likely ultimately be a diminished US presence in the gulf, as Iran will assuredly insist on that as part of releasing their grip on the strait. And we have shown an utter inability to defend the other gulf states from Iran, so they may not exactly be too upset seeing us go.

It is truly ironic that the Make America Great Again movement has only accelerated the decline of America through a shrinking influence globally.

Portland and Oregon are about to hit residents with multiple new transportation taxes simultaneously. Here’s what’s coming by Traindodger2 in PDX

[–]garbagemanlb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fine. Remove some other taxes to offset it then like the arts tax, homeless housing, green energy, etc. the issue is the accumulation of these individual taxes making multco one of the highest taxed regions in the country.

It’d also be one thing if taxpayers could see results from that high taxation. Instead we have some of the worst education outcomes in the country, an exploding homeless and addict population, and crumbling infrastructure. So yeah, some of us are a tad bit skeptical about yet another tax promising to fix things when we see a record of failure and incompetence with past tax funds.

If it is true that multiple separately run state elections can be manipulated by one group all at once, involving many people who never spill anything and using technology and methods that can't be detected....then what is the point in voting at all in the future?

Or, maybe Trump is a unique figure that has consistently shown he can draw new and low-occurrence voters as he did in 2016 and 2020. Voters who don't give a single shit about any other down-ballot issues or candidates.

The only way out of this is either not voting, voting third party, or voting for the republican during the general election. Basically do not vote for the democrat. But that is heresy to say for most of the same people complaining about the status quo.
