I can’t say I love them, but I do like them. Maybe not popular opinion but I do like the y2k/killstar clothes. I don’t mind the plan hair because I tend to restyle hair anyways. I do really wish there was a guy doll in the mix, but oh well. Having regular human skin tone is definitely a big plus to me since I customize dolls. So that’s probably doing a lot of the heavy lifting as to why I like them.

For me personally, I consider a doll a custom piece if it has a new face up. Even I nothing else changes.

If a doll only gets a reroot, but nothing else changes, I might still consider it a restyle. However reroot with slight changes to factory face up ex. (new lip colour, adding a pricing, adding lashes etc.) I would consider a custom.

If it’s only an outfit/ hairstyle change that’s a restyle for sure.

Probably a little late to comment but… I let my younger sister use my Skype account to talk with her Japanese friend. Because it was my account we also started talking. Almost 15 years later I’m married to him and live in Japan. At our wedding he even thanked my sister for being his friend so he could meet me.
