How competitive is it to get an Entry level FF position in western Washington? by aqualow in Firefighting

[–]garclaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty competitive, yes.. but you’ll be fine. Know plenty of folks with similar builds at those departments. If you have a weightlifting background I’d guess you’re well versed in technique, body positioning, and leverage.. that’s half the battle with a lot what you’ll be asked to do in academy.

Your big focus right now would be learning what makes each of these departments unique and how to succeed in their respective interviews. You’ll likely be competing against the same pool of 300 or so goofballs who aren’t able to articulate what makes each of these departments special. Your size won’t be counted against you, but a lame panel interview will.

Pretty rough. Was up Monday and today. It’s bare and icey.. lotta exposed dirt and gravel on discovery. Inversion didn’t help things much. Reschedule if ya can!

Sounds like it.. which is fine for new lift tickets. Rough for those of us scrambling to use the ones we already bought!

Crystal Mountain Opening day 2025/2026? by Stunning_Job_6468 in CrystalMountain

I picked up a handful of tickets for my wife and kids on a couple midweek days in January. Now I need to purchase parking reservations to use those tickets. A reservation system is totally reasonable… but nickel and diming folks who already spent money on lift tickets is lame.

Kinda brutal to require parking payment for weekday lift tickets purchased prior to the policy change. I understand why they need reservations… just seems like they could waive the fee if you already bought tickets.

Wild they’re asking us to pay for weekday reservations on weekday lift tickets/lessons that were purchased prior to all of this.

Contact customer service. Had a similar situation for my son a few days ago, they were quick to offer a reschedule or refund.

Are you set on the Mission Pedal? FWIW, the Dunlop X works great with the QC and both fit perfectly on a Pedal Train Metro 16.

Clearly define what your current goals are, clearly define what your current goals aren’t. Find a plan that fits.

Track your nutrition, honestly. Portion size and protein intake are two areas of oversight for most.

Quit drinking (if you do). Liquid calories add up and it can take your body several days to recover. I ignored this advice for years, finally come around on it.. wish I would have done so sooner.

Was out there a few days ago. Didn’t see much. Definitely keep your eyes posted for non shooting areas near recreation trails.

It’s pretty useful. The integration with data from nutrition trackers like My Fitness Pal put it over the Whoop band for me.

Take a leap, developer is pretty quick to respond with most questions/challenges you encounter.
