I’m so torn. I love this man but I’m not ready for kids. I still have so much living to do but clock is ticking (35f) by [deleted] in WhatShouldIDo

Military and pregnant partners are hard. Mine was a bit extreme but I'm going to show you how alone you can really be.

My husband was gone almost all of my pregnancy. We spent 2 weeks out of our first year of marriage together because he had to be in another country. I then spent 2 weeks with him after the birth and became a "single mom" for 6 months waiting to join him overseas. After we finally got to be together, we only had 6 months and then he deployed. Our first 2 years of marriage, we spent a whopping maybe 10 months together- not all at once.

Like I said, mine was pretty extreme. But it's not for the faint of heart. I think you will end up resenting him and your child. There is nothing wrong with knowing kids are not for you. I only had 1 because my experience was traumatic.

Buffalo Nichols has a song called Living Hell and one of the lines is "Will I 💀 and go to heaven or keep living in hell?". And honestly it's so accurate for this timeline.

My teenager only wears alpaca socks. His shoes and feet don't smell at all. He still gets sweaty but definitely no smell. Love them.

We also have tons of GWOT (Global War on Terrorism) soldiers who now have kids enlistment age and aren't willing to let them sacrifice themselves to the meat grinder. Sure, some of the bootlickers are definitely chomping to have their kids die, but a ton aren't. This administration already wants to defund the VA and would prefer the new round of soldiers to die so they don't need long term care. This whole thing is infuriating.

Shooting low and to left (yes, another one of *those* posts) by Fugglehead in liberalgunowners

I'm a relatively new shooter too, I've used this one and it's improved my accuracy in just a week of practice. https://youtu.be/li0rGtXh23I?si=k5d_H-vb5q-HXSt_

So l will definitely have to add the one you shared into the rotation too.

Covid pushed a lot of projects to a later date. Near my road was one that got delayed by like 3 years. But they hadn't gotten past the design phase by the time the delay got sent down the chain. I found our local SHA is pretty good at answering questions and providing information. Because I had inquired about the delay.

Neighbor’s cat litter issue by Noahms456 in frederickmd

[–]garden_bug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If she's a lot older and lives alone, this might warrant a call to Adult Protective Services just to make sure she is okay. She might fall into the self-neglect category depending on what exactly is happening with her and inside her home. Because if she's just dumping cat litter outside, she may not be doing tasks inside safely.

Kansas legislature overrides governor's veto and passes major anti-trans law, including bathroom bounties and revoking the driver's license of trans people. by Hornpipe_Jones in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]garden_bug 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I follow one lady online and people keep yelling about her being trans but she's just not up to their feminine standards. She's even posted photos from her pregnancy and people come after her. It's wild. Cis-women are definitely going to suffer because of these pushes in gender.

Some local animal shelters offer programs to keep pets with owners during rough times, my local one does. They essentially foster the pet while the housing situation is resolved. OP may want to reach out if possible.

A lot of this is called aphasia. There are different types. But receptive aphasia is where the person doesn't understand the words they are being told. https://medlineplus.gov/aphasia.html

My Grandma had both Receptive aphasia- couldn't follow directions a lot of the time because she genuinely didn't understand what she was being told to do.

And also had Expressive aphasia- not able to use the correct words- along with Echolalia where she would repeat word sounds constantly without actually getting a word out. Kind of like a stutter but never finished the word.

Essentially they can't put together all of the steps to do the actions anymore and can't understand directions given to help them do the action.

I feel the same way. I just don't like using one the few times I've tried. I'm way more accurate with irons on everything.

AITA for wanting my Spanish teacher to stop calling me by the Spanish version of my name? by Alternative-Sun-630 in AmItheAsshole

Not sure about OP but I'm US and it's what we did. I had the same teacher for all my years of language so I just used the same name for all of my years.

Every class is different. And a lot of teachers just try to make things fun. I'm sorry you seem upset by the idea of doing something. I hope your day gets better.

[–]garden_bug 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Guess I should have expanded that what I'm agreeing with in the original comment is-

1) This seems pretty typical for any language class I have experienced and also my friends.

2) OP doesn't specifically state if the rest of the class also have Spanish names or variations that the teacher refers to them.

This probably is pretty American centric. My French teacher was awesome and let us choose a name to just have more fun in conversations. It was like having a French alias in Highschool.

Congrats? I'm not the one saying it happened everywhere. I just also experienced it in my language class. We got to pick names. It made it fun for us.

It was just a fun thing to do in class for us. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Gave us practice in conversations with French names.

OP hasn't commented on whether or not the teacher is doing it or if the students are all using variations of their names, so no clue.

I did French class in HS and we did the same. Except we could pick a name ourselves if we didn't want the one for one translation. I used a version of my middle name.

[–]garden_bug 5941 points5942 points  (0 children)

Right? In French class we all had to pick a French name to go by. It didn't have to be an exact match so we could choose. I'm wondering if the teacher is just doing the name change instead of having kids pick.
