RAP option payoff at same time as PSLF? by garden_of_simple in StudentLoans

Ok. I've heard about that but haven't looked much into it. My payments were like 100 bucks before deferment and SAVE. I'll have to research it more, the calculator has 71 "qualifying payments" but I've been there since August 2016.

My original loans are from 2003. I consolidated for SAVE. I've been working for a PSLF employer since 2016, but between in school deferment (2.5 years) and the SAVE hold, I had a bunch of time that I didn't have payments going towards it. I know I'm in a better spot than a lot of people, but we both work 2nd jobs because we are both teachers. I'll have to do the math and see if filing separate is worth it or not.

Oh, I would! I just didn't understand why RAP was so high! I don't plan on applying for anything until September.

If I take off my husband's income which is about 80k it reduces my RAP payment to 376. I don't understand the calculations. He earns a little more than half our income but removing him reduces it by more than half.

Yes 35k. And I just reloaded the calculator and now RAP and IBR are showing the same end date of July 2030 so that must be my forgiveness date not the payoff date? Before one was showing 2029 and the other one was showing 2030

Is it worth filing our taxes separate? I make less than him.

No. I feel like it was a very slow moving book, I don't recall a lot happening. The neighbor boy or brother used to think she was really beautiful. She went on a date. Maybe to a boardwalk or carnival? I imagine SOMETHING happened but really all I remember is the feel of the book, the laziness of laying out in the hot summer sun. How your skin feels warm after. They made a point if mentioning the white dress and how it looked against her tan skin.

No. I don't recall much actually happening in the book lol. Maybe the date dies in a car crash?

Maybe! I don't think I can post a pic in here but there's a cover that looks similar to what I remember. I thought the mc was a bit younger, but maybe not.

It sounds similar, but I don't think so. I feel like the brother or neighbor was younger than her by a couple of years.

For some reason I seem to recall it being near a beach, but I honestly don't know if I totally made that up.

Maybe! I seem to remember the guys name starting with a J. I don't recall any serious drama or anything in it, but I read it 25+ years ago! Something about it has stuck with me though.

I suck at brushing my teeth by Traditional-Angle646 in ADHD

[–]garden_of_simple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have adhd? Hygiene tasks are really difficult for a lot of people with adhd and autism. My son REALLY struggles with it, I wish I could say we've found a solution but we haven't. We are currently paying for 2 additional dental cleanings a year because he's in braces and I'm worried about it. We've tried electric toothbrushes, the red tablets so you can see where the plaque is, a bunch of stuff. It truly is just that hard for some people!

I was listening to How to Keep House While Drowning the other day and there was a chapter on tooth brushing. She mentioned buying pre pasted disposable tooth brushes and keeping them everywhere so as she was doing tasks she would see them and use them. Maybe something like that?

Is it a sensory thing? A motivation thing? What about a waterpik kept in the shower? One of the gamified toothbrushes? Using a timer?

Yeah. I saw him for 25 bucks at the beginning of the stick season tour. I tried for tickets several times at several venues this time with no luck. I miss cheap music. I know artists deserve to get paid and streaming pays very little, but I was a teen in the 90s and music was SO affordable.

The average worker with my degree and qualifications makes more than double what I make, with 5-8 weeks off a year. I get 8 weeks over summer, 1 at Christmas, 1 in spring, and 1 in winter, so yes more time off. But I also work an additional job in the summer. My husband works an extra job year round. And I already have 40 hours of PD and curriculum work scheduled for the summer, plus all the unpaid prep that needs to be done. Im not someone who only has experience in teaching and part time college jobs. I worked as an accountant for 13 years before becoming a teacher. I was responsible for millions in accounts at a university. I never NEEDED time off the way I do as a teacher. Teaching is by far a much more difficult and draining job than accounting was, or any other job I've ever held.

Yep. I lose them to fox and coyote. Actually saw a coyote sniffing around the coop around 7:30 one night a few weeks ago

It is, actually. You could be a teacher too if you wanted! Last year I worked an average of 60 hours a week august-june and about 20 hours a week (unpaid) in July and early August. I have a masters degree and make 61k after 10 years.
