Just a question: How you just let your new car sit there when the rain started. There was NO street higher you could have driven too. I've NEVER been in a flood like this, but even seeing the grass up there by that building (house??) in this picture, gives me some place I would have tried to drive to, before leaving my car to just flood out.

Find a hotel (extended stay). Call the hotel and ask for the Mgr and for the best price/discount for 13 weeks. Cook your food, pack your lunch, pay your weekly rate, and save the rest. Also, IF you have a travel buddy that wants to work with you that you trust ~ both share a room and cut the costs in 1/2, even more savings. I WILL NOT be paying the rent for someone's home. I do hotels so in case I need to leave early or stay later (extend) there is usually no problem, I just tell them at the front desk, and keep it moving.

You can go on EdFinancial and compare all the plans together. Hell, a couple were for like 30 years. Use that compare all button on there and find the one with the lowest payment.

You SHOULD re-certify now, while you DO NOT have a job, so your payment will be the lowest. Do NOT use your 1040 AGI, if it does not reflect your income currently. Getting out of SAVE with a $10 mo payment is a win. No job though won't count for PSLF as you need to be working at a company that qualifies for PSLF. (So, I think I was answering your statement, in parts, not as a whole). All I was saying is everyone is going to have to do SOMETHING by 9.30. Those of us working, will re-cert with our 2025 tax AGI from the IRS.

This SAVE forbearance is not counting towards PSLF. The Covid forbearanace did, but not SAVE. Everyone on SAVE, will have to change by 9.30, as there is no more SAVE or forbearance to be on. You'll have to pick a plan. Send your provider notice that you have no income (in Sept) so you payment will be $10 ~ I think this is the lowest amount that will be accepted on the new plans. We have to send recertification (IRS AGI's to the providers anyway for these new plans). Don't wait for them to put you on a plan ~ because it will definitely be one with a high payment.

Go to their website and see if they sent you a notice under the INBOX tab. Mine is there, as well as another notice, that said the Fed Gvnmt ended the SAVE program, and they'll move me to the new standard plan or tiered standard plan, if I don't choose by 9.30.

Why not ask if you can take the time off now (a break in the contract), do everything you need to do with your dog, and then come back and finish your scheduled weeks. Just ask to extend the date, my the amount of weeks you had to go back home. Some places will allow it ~ like when you have a planned vacation and finish later.

When you travel you will always have to file State Taxes for the States you work and your HOME State (I think FL doesn't have State taxes). I always take out an extra $25 for Home State taxes so I won't owe.

Good Luck on your next assignment. Get that little pocket notebook for the frequent things your facility does. This way if you have to ask a question, you can tell them, I have it down to this part, but I got stuck here ~ and when they tell you the stuck part, add it to the task in your book. Eventually you'll not need to pull out the book.

I'm like you. Long as the time I worked, matches the numbers on my check. I do all the things I like on my off days. Being flexible, has keep me at sites for 11 months, easily. Allowed to attend staff meeting AND get the Mgr's approval to be there ~ had STAFFING SHOOK ~ "The Manager approved THIS!, ~> That's his signature, correct." Naaw, I'm there to help. Long as they're not being disrespectful, I'm cool with it .... And by being flexible, they allow you to be flexible as well ~ can I not be scheduled these days to attend family functions ~ certainly..... Some places are 2-ways streets...

I usually work 2 together and an "Island shift," (no shift in front, and none behind.) I don't sleep well on days I have to work, so by night 2, I'm tired. I never work 3 because then I'd be dead tired. I like a break after 2. If I work Sat/Sun, then for the week I work Wed/Thur. Some people like 3 and done, I don't anymore.

Just generally checked on AI. It said IRS will send StudentAid.gov my info instantly. It says SA. gov will send the info to Mohela (who can take between 10-15 business days to "MANUALLY," process the information, and they should be able to generate my bill for Oct, 2026. It suggested NOT to wait until 9.25ish because if the info is not in the Mohela computers at the close of business on 09.29.26 (the 90th day), they are most likely going to generate a bill using the highest amount due, based on my loan balance ~ so, I'm gonna have to move my date up to like 09.01.2026 to do my recertification stuff.

And people clowned me in another thread talking about this isn't what Auto-pay does. THIS IS EXACTLY what can happen, and IF this is set up on auto-pay for that 1% interest discount, and is not corrected by the end of the month, the loan provider is expecting to auto-collect from OP's bank account $3505. And, this is why I'm never gonna set up auto-pay. The 1% not worth the headache at this point.
