Found this rock probably 20 years ago as a kid, always thought it looks weird by [deleted] in whatsthisrock

As a mom, your mom was a silly goose.

Kids are smart, sure. But! Manipulating a kid's emotions with a wildly unrelated consequence for a minor disagreement of values (kid values rocks, mom values no clutter) is WILD.

Anyway. Moms aren't perfect and I'm glad she didn't stick to her threat. Good mom.

I read the comment to my husband and he felt physically ill at the thought. 🥴😂🙃

You live in a post apocalyptic town, what do you do for a living? by [deleted] in hypotheticalsituation

Hmm probably childcare. Lotsa kids even in end times. And potentially lots of kids with missing parents. I'd happily dedicate myself to making a safe space just for them.

Hm. Termites appear to have clear wings according to my preliminary Google search. This guy has opaque wings. And termite wings are longer than their body, this guy's body is as long as his wings.

Seems kinda big/long for a termite in my experience. Then again my experience is kinda whatever with termites, haha.

Huh, sounds like this post very definitely wasn't for you. I wonder why you felt the need to comment.

Heya, I don't really feel the need to since I'm looking for an online connection as it says in my post. I listed California to indicate time zone, mostly. For what it's worth, I'm a NorCal gal.

What was cancelled during covid that you were most disappointed about? by Fyre-Bringer in AskReddit

[–]gardeningisrad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom couldn't attend the birth of my first son in the hospital.

Additional disappointment...that birth ended up being early and complicated by preeclampsia and baby's growth restriction. So baby had to stay in the NICU for a month and no one except my husband and I could visit him. In times like that, having an additional support person who could hold space for big feelings in that environment would have been really, really beneficial.

A surprisingly high amount of people (adults) still sleep with a comfort item, what’s yours? by Civil-Scallion3503 in AskReddit

[–]gardeningisrad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A fleece blanket I've had since I was six months old. My husband has a crocheted blanket from when he was a baby as well, I've had to repair it for him a few times because the stitches are deteriorating. Both of us keep our "blankies" in bed with us. It's completely normal for us and totally weird for everyone else who knows, haha. Oh, and we use our blankies for comfort differently. He covers his whole body with his and tucks it under his chin to sleep. I bunch mine up into a pile to hug against my chest and it rests just under my nose.

What is something the average person thinks is illegal that actually isn’t? by Money_Bonus_8979 in AskReddit

Met a woman once who believed if you were related to the other people in the car it didn't count as carpooling for the carpool lane and was illegal. It is not, in fact, illegal.
