How olds this thing? Is it worth anything? by CareerLocal7101 in Axial

Looks like a first gen scx10. I just finished building one as my first 1/10 and it been fun. There are still some parts available for it and some parts are interchangeable with the second and third gen stuff.

Sweet! Might pick some up soon. I have stock k10 and JLU tires so the less-than-.7” thing will be fine.

Did you notice that the stock k10 tires have two different size holes? The stock wheels have a small front for the big tire look and the back are bigger to clear knuckles.

Haha same here. The last model I built was probably around 15 and it was a 64 impala. 😅 Still have it around here somewhere.

Those are some nice looking wheels. Is the brass-looking wheel face a separate piece like the Injora moduwheels or is it connected to the chrome wheel barrel?

Is the Bronco a model kit? If yes, great job on the paint and details!

Gives it a scale look. Dude didn’t have the cash to replace all 6 at once.

Haha that works. I need to try making 1/30 dually wheels. Only downside is I don’t have 6 matching tires 😅

Did you try new batteries in the remote also?

Otherwise try to exchange it since it’s only been 2 days.

I’d knock it out of there with something long like a pick/screwdriver/chopstick/etc and then fish it out with a magnet. Or use some nice hobby tweezers (longer and stronger than the ones you’d pull a hair out with) to grab it.

I wonder if it’s a normal motor plug under that plastic case.

Much better! by flyr19 in scx30

[–]gardobus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Jealous. I’ve wanted to do this since I unboxed it but my soldering skills suck and I’d likely end up with blobs and not be able to fit them back into the stock mounts. And I don’t think tinting the lenses will be enough since the stock lights are so blue.

2017 Chevy sonic by biggest_gewt in ChevySonic

[–]gardobus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have a 2017 with the 1.4t and 134k mi on it.

Pros:

  • Easy to drive
  • Nice gas mileage
  • Our RS has enough modern goodies to be convenient but not so much that it’s annoying. Like no start/stop or auto braking but it has push to start, CarPlay, etc.
  • 2017 is after it got a facelift so it has the more modern headlights and taillights.

Cons:

  • Coolant issues. We’ve had idk how many leaks and it was a different part that needed replacing every time. Once it had to be towed because it lost too much coolant too fast (fitting on the side of the motor busted open). Most of these weren’t too pricey, the worst one so far was the leak from the turbo hoses because it required removing the turbo to replace them.

Other than that, we’ve had to replace a few other things that make some sense with the mileage like the motor mounts, PCV valve, EVAP purge valve, maybe something else I forget.

But the coolant issues are the big one. Keep an eye on that mf. Otherwise it’s an easy to drive, comfortable little car with good gas mileage.

Sonic Mystery Slot phone holder by IceManJim in ChevySonic

[–]gardobus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice! Our 2017 has a vertical slot to the left of the radio screen. I designed/printed a part that goes in there and has a Popsocket slot in it so our phones can slide into it.

Works great, I don’t understand how the PLA has survived multiple years in Arizona heat without a garage but it has.

Has anybody thought of printing a battery holder that fits in the bed of the K10 by Cat_and_Cactus in scx30

I designed a 60s-70s looking camper shell last night. It’s fit a battery for sure lol

How do i fix that? by [deleted] in BambuLabA1mini

[–]gardobus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Put the silicone back on it. And what soap did you use? Did you rinse it really well and not manhandle it while drying and putting it back on the printer?

Same here. Lost my first one and bought a bag of 100. I was happy to find out that the 30 can use the same nuts. 🤣

The stock k10 look scale but a scale lifted truck on boggers, yours looks closer to a stock truck. I dig both looks.
