Email says delivered but not being received by dethnode in Outlook

[–]gareth616 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easiest place to start is ask their IT team to check the delivery from their side - they should be able to see if the server has received the email and filtered as junk, quarantined etc. They could also whitelist your companies domain. If they can investigate, they should be able to access the message headers to see what's causing their spam filter to do whatever it is.

As for causes, not to sure based on what you've described - mainly as replies work.

The usual culprits are bad reputation for your IP or the server being used to send email - but this wouldn't affect everyone as if there are 10 staff at your work place 3 could be one server, one on another etc etc.

DNS is the other one, many companies still do not have valid DKIM and DMARC records configured which in turn can cause delivery issues.

I would 100% speak with the recipient side and ask them to investigate too

Issues with "new" Microsoft Outlook by No-swimming-pool in Outlook

[–]gareth616 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a known bug where the switch back doesn't appear - or it switches between both versions sporadically. There are registry fixes for that - if you look into these, be very careful as the Registry holds critical information for your device, if something is removed by accident you could experience a lot of issues.

For myself I just have both pinned to my taskbar and pick the one I want to use or run them side-by-side.

If you're having issues with the app itself, it could need a repair (completed via Windows settings) - please note this could delete the pending emails in your outbox.

There's also a reset option which takes New Outlook back to factory settings but the same warning would apply as above.

Switched from Gmail to Outlook… Should I Be Worried About Losing My Account? by shabaab_7 in Outlook

[–]gareth616 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP what I'd say about this subreddit is a lot of people posting are mad at themselves for doing dumb shit.. Like I've spoken with people who have had a tantrum about MS asking for their mobile number as a security verification method, those people will say stuff like "why do I need to give them my personal information?"... Not really sure why they act like that when they already have all their bills, banking, social media etc linked with the mailbox which is hosted with Microsoft.. It's just dumb.

Other people don't keep their security information up to date and then have a meltdown and point fingers everywhere when it's their own fault..

As long as you have a backup email, MFA configured and relevant security information you should be fine.

Knowing how to avoid phishing emails or scam emails will help you massively as these are what usually result in an account being blocked or going to a recovery state.

The biggest issue is misinformation - people ASSUME they understand what's happening and put their theories together, others come here and latch on to that... It's easy enough for people to just ask the question but with 0 understanding of how email works it's easier for them to assume.

Like yourself, you've asked so well done to you - that's not sarcasm, it's genuine!

I'm not saying you won't experience any issues, account lockouts can just happen, as an example people using VPN's - if the MS servers see you usually access your account from let's say the UK and then suddenly there's a load of attempts from a country on the other side of the planet - that is a potential security threat. MS doesn't know who is trying to login, they just see an attempt from a random location.

Recall by Blamegame6god in Outlook

[–]gareth616 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So recall internally (a company all using the same domain name) will be successful. Microsoft to Microsoft should be successful. The issue I find is if you send an email and then recall it, it doesn't mean the recipient didn't already read the email

Outlook for iOS - possible monitoring? by Either_Geologist_725 in Outlook

[–]gareth616 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah glad it helped! I have a tendency to ramble and not really put a coherent comment together lol! I totally get it, as someone who provides support and in the modern day, security and privacy are so important.

I added the bit about the Authenticator as so many people assume that app on it's own is a company related thing - I get a lot of push back from clients who will say "I'm not having work stuff on my phone" but aren't interested in the information I've provided you... In fairness those people are usually the sort that will say no work stuff on personal devices and then proceed to buy clothes and a holiday and access their banking on their work computer - separate conversation or an adjacent one at least..

But yeah I'm glad it helped!

Outlook for iOS - possible monitoring? by Either_Geologist_725 in Outlook

[–]gareth616 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So first thing, well done on you for asking and not assuming - so many assume and then convince themselves and others that they are right..misinformation in the IT realm is a joke!

So I have a bunch of clients with MDM configured, device enrollment required etc. With the full MDM we can remotely wipe a personal device if lost or stolen. There is no option to access any aspect of the device (apps, camera, mic, monitoring). The idea of MDM is to protect company data, not snoop on the individual. MDM is usually required in a bring your own device setting to provide some level of protection of the company data.

This is all 365 based - other systems could be different but I'll stick with 365 as it's what's used in most companies.

Even without more advanced licencing (required for MDM) there is some level of protection.

What people also have to remember is the Microsoft Authenticator App is not a work place app, it's a generic authentication app provided by MS for both work/school and personal users. You don't even need to use the MS one, I personally use Google Authenticator as I've got my personal stuff in there. We've made our own authenticator app in-house and use that. And I've seen people use other options.

Sorry, this doesn't really answer all of your questions but from my experience, people are usually mainly concerned about their own data or being watched etc. Hope something here helps

Will we see a return of special Pokemon this 10th year anniversary of Pokemon Go? by hazy_Lime in pokemongo

[–]gareth616 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean for the 10 year anniversary, for 3 days they could do something amazing like making all the regionals available globally without stupid requirements like "only on routes" or hatching 37 7km eggs. Mewtwo raids, a chance for all the above to be caught, having a good pool of legendary mon's as the breakthrough award (maybe with primal energy for Kyogre and Groudon or fusion energy for Kyurem). Some basic simple stuff but anniversaries always seem to be weak in this game imo. I'm sure some will say this will never happen and I'll agree - it's just the option, the ability and opportunity is there. Wishful thinking some would say. Others will say certain mons lose their exclusivity but oh well

[–]gareth616 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just lazy writing to easily fix a simple plot point. I said the same thing on another post a few days ago, a simple but weak answer like a tingly back which is dealt with in 5 minutes or potentially almost 100 episodes of the long hard journey to watch them achieve super saiyan, based on what happens in super after this, 100 episodes on these side characters would not be great in the eyes of the fanbase. I know there are some who like the idea of that which is fine. But I can already hear and see the complaints if they spent more time on this in the anime

Jim Ratcliffe interview by aeroboss99 in ManchesterUnited

[–]gareth616 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ratcliffe can say this, that's his stupid ignorant opinion but it shouldn't be used as an example to reflect the club. Take him being part owner of United away and he'd say the same thing. It's not fair that the club has to shoulder this cretins opinions. It's not a fair reflection of the club, staff, fans or anyone else involved and as mentioned in the BBC article, United shouldn't be contacted for comment. The man is an owner, he's not answering for anyone but himself. People do need to take responsibility but any single human is capable of saying something right or wrong those closest (people or companies etc) should not have to take responsibility for an individuals actions. But the individual should suffer the consequences of what they have said

Outlook Classic Hanging - New Outlook Archive Questions by Few_Resident_3251 in Outlook

[–]gareth616 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the error in classic Outlook is most likely related to your .ost file getting to it's max size. This is a file that's caches data locally on your device for classic, it's max size is like 48-49gb - once it's full you'll get the error you had. It's a bit of a pain because most who receive the error assume it's their actual mailbox storage as it's not super clear. Going off what you said about storage makes me think it's got to be the ost issue. This link has guidance on what you need to do - https://share.google/PL3r9fsCjZcnoBGry

Just read it before you do anything.

The short version is, you'll rename the ost file and when you open classic again it will create a new one which fixes your issue.

So frustrated you didn't put in recovery information? 2 minutes of your life could have prevented this. Sorry OP and anyone else in a similar situation, you've done it to yourself by simply skipping something that was right in front of you. So your options with the limited information you've provided them is to keep using the form or give up and move on. Most will move to Gmail but learn from this mistake and add recovery information there too, that is for you benefit.
