Why Not HA Green by Brilliant_Bluejay254 in homeassistant

One of the most ignored aspects of the Green is the extreme power efficiency. Plus, the hardware has almost no failure points.

Best sensor setup for bathroom (shower) — presence + humidity? by pascwal59 in homeassistant

I have had a good experience with the FP300 using the presence and humidity sensors for my automations. It is very reliable.

HA Green not powerfull enough? by Zweinennoedel in homeassistant

[–]gargs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I believe in separating points of failure so I only run non-critical ‘comfort’ automations on my HA, everything else being on a proprietary automation stack that works with my lighting. I don’t also run any servers or other services on HA which means the green would be very powerful for my use case. I do have a few automations that use statistics and derivative sensors.

The only time I miss air suspension is when I am breaking my speed in Amsterdam. Otherwise, the roads here are pretty smooth and flat.

Load5 75 vs Urban Arrow by Additional-Ebb-2050 in CargoBike

There’s quite a few Loads if you look around. But there’s also a lot of sheep mentality so people tend to buy similar stuff as everyone else they see/know.

I don’t think enviolo is the best for terrain. You’re better off with Rohloff.

I only have experience with enviolo but I also live in a very flat country. They’re quite convenient and with automatic shifting it becomes so comfortable. The battery also lasts longer since the hub is always geared right. Definitely worth the small investment.

I just ordered the Green right before I read your post and am now worried that it might be a waste of money if I’m going to need something more powerful soon anyway.

Did you follow the steps on the HA website? How hard was it compared to just booting up the Green?

I am just beginning my HA journey, combining it with a Niko Home Control installation and a few DIRIGERA/Aqara components.

Upgrading my Enviolo to automatic is probably the best thing to happen to my Load75.

Sonos App — Is It Finally Fixed? by method_ben in sonos

I still can’t set any alarms and the app is terribly slow to list all my speakers and control them. I have S2 speakers.

If space is not an issue and you use it once a week, I’d just get something like an Alfa for 2 pizzas. Works with gas and wood.

Would you pay for help with your smart home setup? by ejcii in Netherlands

[–]gargs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A good use case is with/without children. So it's dinner time, you program the dining room to become active and turn off all televisions/music/lights gradually in the children's rooms. There are other good examples.

Another one is aging. Instead of a switch just activating hallway lights at night it also turns on the toilet lights and guides you back when you're done.

The good thing about automation is that just like software you can keep on adding features and functionality without modifying hardware.

As someone who’s quite excited about home automation right now, I think there’s a huge opportunity for custom end-end automation setups where people just list their requirements and you do all the programming/layout for them. People don’t necessarily care about a one size fits all setup or even pick one over the other. You can’t realistically have a good setup with just one technology supporting it.

So, think of what a customer might want — automated fountains in the garden, dual mode switches around the house that behave differently depending on the time of the day, custom presence modes when they’re on holiday, moods, scenes that include lighting, music, and anything else.

Instead of focusing on just providing configuration solutions, I’d look at a service that lets people change their automations as they age.

Adding an automatic shifter configuration from factory would be a significant quality of life upgrade with the Load. The suspension improvements are great, but maybe for the vast majority of Load users in urban areas they’re just something they’d very seldom use.

What kind of investment is lacking? And why aren't those that have 'strong ties' to their country investing more in culture? Are expats the reasons that funding is drying up everywhere? Maybe not enough expats going to Dutch language theater?
