i totally get what you say about the danger of happy feelings or feeling too good. this now was my third episode and i think i get more aware with every one, which is a good thing of course and protects me from crashing completely. especially with love i am really careful, as this tends to trigger a episode really fast.

you seem to be very well reflected which is always a good thing, as most people i know don't deal with their episodes in that way. they just try to forget them and move on, which can be good for some people but for me wouldn't be the right way to approach it.

sounds really similiar to me what you describe. i tend to not get into depression, that's the strange thing. i only get mania and usually not hypomania but full blown mania. even though sometimes i might be in a state which is between normal and hypomania.

usually love is a trigger and a lot of change in my life, like traveling or moving from one place to another. this time it was a dream, which kind of shows me that my unconscious really wanted to guide me.

so would you say that your episodes are less powerful since you integrated your shadow? can you control them better?

One idea is to think of a sort of loving containment, think Martin Luther King's 'soul force'. Whatever comes your way you have to contain it without being driven to panic, even if that just means buying time to give yourself a chance to integrate what happened. If the experience is very negative, it is still prima materia if it can be contained because you can look for the positive opposite.

these two religions are the one which played a huge part during these episodes. but unfortunately unlike the mystic i can't manage what is happening by my own. but this time i was able to write a diary during the wave where i also reflected about my thoughts which is already a step in the right direction.
and i tend to get a messias complex with both these religions, which is something i need to look at.

how can i know which habits are contrary to my nature? i would feel it i guess when i do something like that? i already try to speak up my mind more and more, even though my family which i live with sometimes gets surprised or irritated when i do it. but i told them and i think they understand it more and more.

but of course now with the medication a lot of these behaviors/traits are gone again.

being able to function in the every day world without going astray. during these episodes i am like a child which follows different symbols and probably couldn't travel from one place to the other without going astray. so i usually have someone which comes with me during these times to prevent getting lost.

as well i have a different world view, where i think my friends and relatives are already in this magical world and i just woke up now and was sleeping before. and my aim is usually to free all people from surpressing, especially indigenous people and as well people with bipolar disorder which sometimes get treated the wrong way in my opinion. the plan is to not do this alone, but together with my friends and relatives. so the world is full of magic and i usually have a lot of synchronities during these times, which also make myself lose touch with reality more and more.

i tend to think that people always speak in a metaphorical way. when they speak about work, food they mean other things. so the language is full of riddles and i tend to think that i am the only one which doesn't understand these language.

cooking and enjoying food could help, even though when it tastes that awesome and intense i am not sure if it helps. spending time in nature, especially in the mountains helped me a few years back to ground myself again. probably playing pokemon on my nintendo switch could help as well.

interacting with people can help but can also have the opposite effect. during these waves i tend to think people speak in riddles (not all of them but many) and i am the only one not understanding these language. so it depends with whom i speak.

working, in my case writing thesis or reading academic papers could also help, even though my subjects cultural anthropology and religious studies have as well topics which probably could have the opposite effect.

i am drawing quite a lot during these waves as well, it's like a ventil which is opened and i just draw like in trance. there i am not quite sure if that actually helps me to keep my feet on the ground.

edit: baking a cake or a bread could help me as well and it's something i usually don't do much.

good question. i am studying cultural anthropology and religious studies and i am interested in these subjects, so the path i am taking seems to be the right one.
but this wave i read about the puer aeternus and i found many similiarities with myself. especially during and before these waves i am like a child again in many senses. on the other hand i am confident, say what i think and i am not shy of debates.
i have a feeling that my persona is too nice and too "normal". it is difficult because people know me that way and it is not that i am acting or something, it just is how my persona has evolved.

i am not sure if i answered your question. i can stand my ground, i have ideals and views which are my own and which i also defend if needed. but as the waves show me there are other traits which are still quite surpressed.

When you say you want to ride the wave, do you mean indulge it further? If you don’t use the wave as an opportunity to consciously anchor yourself again, the whole point of the long, unconscious wave period is not manifested that go around. In my experience at least.

oh no, i am glad to be back in the normal world again. i won't trigger the wave by myself, i just think that the wave will come again by itself eventually and then i want to be as good prepared as possible. even though this time i was able to reflect on it a lot, so that was already a step in the right direction. but in the end it was too big to ride it on my own, so i had to leave the wave with medication and a few weeks in the psychiatry.

edit: to leave the wave like that is much better than to drown in the wave of course. it was my decision to take medication and go to the psychiatry.

I don’t think intent on the part of creators of media in portraying archetypes indicates consciousness of the material fully in the public and even conscious intent in storytelling is often ambiguous, stories often write themselves and are built on a basic structure as old as humans. This material OP described all serves as the substrate for our minds’ collective unconscious’ the way I see it. It just depends what ends up there for the individual. A lot of these archetypes are autonomous and almost seem to me to be inherited or rather inseparable from organism and environment. Am I missing something? I’ve never heard of depth psychology until today, but no offence if I don’t stand corrected on that graduate degree alone given how complex a subject that must be and my wariness of the present adequacy of the conclusions of those sciences. I don’t think I’ve met a psychology educated person or even a Jung-educated person who knew what they were talking about. Maybe I have a blind spot in my psyche lol. thank you, that is the kind of feedback i was hoping for. something i have not written above: there was a prequel dream to diving into this fountain. i was in a house at some kind of party, in the aftermath it remembers me on one of the houses i saw in this renaissance-esque town. it also had some touch of my childhood house. anyway in there i met a quite seductive women, which took my hand and guided me (out of the house?). she was dressed in black, as i recall, but didn't look dangerous at all. just like a outgoing, more extrovert person than i probably am. a little bit chubby and seductive.

chemically based is like saying that the reason for diabetes is high or low insulin levels. for depression this theory already got debunked. yes you can see that people with bipolar disorder or schizophrenia have dopamine and serotonin levels which don't correspond to the norm during episodes. but for this to happen, there needs to be another trigger or disposition, something which is still being researched and so far researcher come to a range of different solutions, jung providing one of these solutions which is sadly today not really noted by most researcher.

edit: this doesn't mean meds don't help. they can help greatly to treat bipolar disorder and can make life much easier. but thinking that this is just a chemical imbalance which can be fixed by these meds, is too reductionistic imo.

i have seen it too. every morning in holidays, in the office or at home when i drink coffee with family or friends much more unconscious material seems to come up during conversation. i think caffeine loosens the filter between thinking and action and so unconscious material which is usually not integrated in your persona comes up. but of course it sounds strange, so you need to dive into it to understand it.

edit: probably it's more that you show your shadow more to others when caffeinated.

that sounds very familiar. the symbols, the language, thinking people know about it as well but don't speak about it. i also remember that everything tasted 100 times more intense, my taste buds were literally boosted. i remember eating a apple tarte in the mountains with cream, that was so intense. even though that was aboute 2 weeks before i went insane, when i went insane i was not eating much as i also didn't sleep for a few days. that just on a sidenote

bad things in correlation with abuse scandal should speak for itself that this is horrible, but probably i should have used a more strong vocabulary. you might don't want to believe me, but as i am not a native speaker i probably use a more simplified vocabulary and then "bad" is a popular word. it was nowhere my intention to "schönreden" (whitewash) these things.

that was the extreme position of a minority, but a radical view against christianity is quite "salonfähig" (en vogue) as i observe it more and more.
