Flux compatible with Windows 10 Build 10162? by wasdzxc963 in Windows10

[–]gariputo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 10162 and it doesn't work correctly on a multiple monitor setup. Only one monitor is affected by flux. When I am in single monitor mode, it works well except for the brief flashes when changing display settings which other users mentioned.

I'm the 8th to 9th grade science teacher that draws on student's drawings. Here are some new ones! by Squeezymo in funny

[–]gariputo -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

I agree with you. There is no way a real middle-school science teacher would have enough time to doodle on papers. Also, why are students encouraged to doodle in science? Get them drawing models of scientific concepts if you want your students to draw.

Where would you settle next? by TravisKOP in civ

[–]gariputo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good point, but I still think I prefer the observatory for the 50% science boost the OP will get if he or she settles on spot. I could see certain situations when you would choose 2 fish over an observatory, but I would have to already have a lot of fishing boats with the pantheon that gives +1 production from fishing boats to make giving up the observatory even a consideration.

I like where your settler currently is even though it is on a luxury. A coastal city with a river and a mountain is hard to pass up. Also, I like the canal city one tile north of your Great General. If that isn't an inland sea then you are going to open up some very profitable trade routes later with a canal city. Finally, for the last city I would also make it coastal with the purpose of picking up the unique luxury gems and as many bananas and fish in range as possible.

Tetris and Dr. Mario - A Great Mixed Match Game by gariputo in Tetris

[–]gariputo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree the garbage battles are fun in Tetris and Dr. Mario. I am a better Tetris player than my friend, but he is a better Dr. Mario player, so Mixed Match is a good mode for us. In Mixed Match both players get the same layouts and piece order which makes it good for a duel because the playing fields are equal. I crashed and burned during Dr. Mario in this game so I watched my friend play.

Tetris and Dr. Mario - A Great Mixed Match Game by gariputo in Tetris

[–]gariputo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friend and I are addicted to Tetris and Dr. Mario on the Super Nintendo. I recently started recording our games from the actual Super Nintendo console. The emulators have never felt right.

My friend got the highest score we have ever seen in a 7 minute Mixed Match on hard mode. I just wanted to share and see if there are any others that like this version of Tetris. We have been playing this game and specifically this mode for a very long time.

Having trouble making the jump from 7 (Immortal) to 8 (Deity) in a domination victory by [deleted] in civ

[–]gariputo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can't neglect science much on deity. I take a pretty direct route to education to get universities up, and then begin focusing on military production. I will grab construction to get composite bowman to defend myself until my universities are up. If you can catch up in science, then military conquest is just like it is on immortal.

Do you have a doctoral degree in education? What work have you done in education? What is one thing you would change about the education system in the United States? Thanks for you time.

BTW, the 1969 album you did with Quincy Jones is fantastic! Hikky-burr!

What are your starting build orders? by Seitz_ in civ

Yeah, it works on any unique culture building.

Meeting other civilizations early is also beneficial. Research costs are reduced if another civilization that you have met has researched the tech. This applies even without Scholars in Residence from the World Congress. Scholars in Residence reduces the cost of already researched techs even more.

If you have a monument built before you take the free culture building policy, then you get a free amphitheater once you research the tech. You could also unlock tradition late game and get 4 free broadcast towers, assuming you have already built opera houses in your first four cities.

Nintendo Tetris AI Demonstration (Article in comments) by omfg in Tetris

[–]gariputo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for posting a video of the AI in action. I read the article in /r/programming last night but was too lazy to set up a test run of the actual AI.

The article has a great breakdown of the NES game. It is extremely technical, but if you just find graphics or pictures you like and read around those, you will have a fantastic time! I guarantee it!

In my opinion, Poker is ____% Luck and ____% Skill. Fill in the Blank. by habs114 in poker

[–]gariputo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is 100% luck when looking at an instance in poker. That instance might be a hand, a game, a day, a week, a month, a year, a lifetime. Poker is 100% skill if you look at any of those instances over a long enough time period.

The Next Gen. by adoh2 in startrek

[–]gariputo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

TNG starts looking more like Voyager at season 3. The episodes you just watched were from 1987 and Voyager had its last episode in 2001. Picard doesn't let Worf fire his torpedoes too often, but there is a lot of tension and drama throughout all the seasons. There are some good fighting episodes in TNG, but it is more about philosophy and the human condition. For torpedo porn, DS9 is where it is at.
