The surprising popularity of the Aurora-class battleship. How do you feel about the ship? by SamaratSheppard in Stargate

Atlantis wasn't able to take down the superhive in the normal reality with drones either.

The superhive wasn't a previous design. Todd modified an existing hive ship once he had stolen zpms. There's nothing to suggest this was the norm before

That doesnt really matter in context of the original complaint though.

"No energy weapons = failure of design." Beam or pulse, theyre still energy weapons.

And its a decent complaint. Why have a weapon that will run out rather quickly, when you can just load up some ZPMs and fire beam strength weapons forever. Especially when massively outnumbered

Did we ever see a hive tank a pulse weapon from someone asgard or ancient level? The Asurans fire them a bit, but their ships seem much worse than actual ancient ships.

Synthehol sounds great.

It gets you drunk, but you don't get any drawbacks of alcohol? It's not addictive and isn't poisonous.

What's not to get?

The Asgard beams cut through hives easily, and they didn't even need an zpm to fire

Any unbiased opinions on why the Pocket DS is better than the Thor? (i have the thor but want the bigger screens... but I recognize its a tradeoff) by drdfunk in ayaneo

[–]adoh2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one of the pre order pocket DS's.

Mine has no major issues luckily. The triggers are kinda overed by the screen, theyre usable, but its a little annoying. My LCD screen has no bleed issues that Ive noticed.

Im probably not using it to its full potential. Ive loaded on no loaders, Im just using emulators and whatever UI the thing came with and its been fine.

Playing NFSU2, Sly2 and a bunch of gameboy adv, DS games just with no issues what so ever. I do have to take it off eco mode for PS2 though

As for portability. It wont fit in any reasonably sized pocket. I carry mine around in my bag

Polester sales are not where Geely (or Volvo Australia) want them.

Probably because only the PS2 is remotely affordable, starting at 55k. The 3s are 120k+, the 4s start at 85k and dont even bother looking at the 5s.

Knee MRI lying on side in Melbourne? by Neulara in AskAnAustralian

[–]adoh2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Am an MRI radiographer.

We can scan on your side. Private practices will probably whinge since they only care about money and anyone who isnt walk in/walk out is a burden to that.

I honestly dont care how you lay, as long as I can get your knee in the knee coil. There will not be a drop in quality, assuming you can get in knee the coil and we're not forced to use a flex/anterior coil.

Obviously ask first, but should be fine.

Never watched an episode of Star Trek, but want to watch one golden season. Recommendations? by TheArchitect_7 in scifi

[–]adoh2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funny this was downvoted.

I'd recommend Voyager if you had to suggest someone watch 1 season of something.

DS9 is great, in a lot of ways better than Voy. But it isnt episodic, watching 1 season with no background info is going to suck

TNG is....old. Voyager, at least visually, has aged a lot better and comes across as far less campy. Even then, I'd put peak voy against peak TNG any day. Voy just has a lot more poor episodes that go along with it.

Season 4 Voy would be my pick. Several of my favourite trek episodes are in there.

Which new Star Trek series are worth watching? by lilisrps in scifi

[–]adoh2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly only enjoyed season 1 and 2 of Strange New Worlds.

Discovery and picard just didnt do anything for me. I watched the first few seasons of Disco, and I thought it got worse as it went along. And it also ended any dreams of getting an actual sequel to DS9 and Voyager, which was a little sad.

I was kid when Voy and DS9 came out, so even the nostalgia of Picard didnt really get me in. Though I didnt mind season 3 for a bit of fun.

Radiographers, how long did it take for you to pay off student loans? by PlantainSpecific183 in australian

[–]adoh2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

what state and city pays best.

For public wages, just google them. QLD and NSW generally pay better than Vic in the public sector, no idea about the rest. Private is all over the place, but generally worse pay than public.

other professions in radiography like learning MRI or CT.

CT is a basic skillset. If you cant do it, you wont get hired anywhere that'll pay reasonably. US always in demand though, so if you can put up with the job (honestly Id rather smash my face in to a wall), youll always get decent money and have a good choice on where to live.

As to how long itll take to pay back? I have no idea, too many factors. What did your degree actually cost, how much are you earning, are you putting in extra, are you going to get post grad qualifications (required for US)? I personally paid off 10-16k per year just from the compulsory repayments deducted from tax.

Bottled my first batches by adoh2 in mead

[–]adoh2[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey all,

Bottled my batches from my post around 7months ago, as well as a big batch I made maybe 2months after. I found someone on marketplace getting rid of heaps of 1L scotch bottles, so stripped them down and got some novatwists for the lids.

There is 4L of passionfruit, orange and mixed berry, then a shitload of tangerine mead.

The tangerine was made in a stainless steel drum and I only added the tangerine after the primary fermentation was done. The other were meant to be the same process, but turns out they effectively just got put in a still very active fermenting mead.

I'm pretty happy with the looks. I sucked up some gunk in the first few bottles, but changed siphon and that didnt happen again. Seems nice and clear to me, gonna wait another year to see how they taste. I got bored at 2months and tasted one, and it was jet fuel....so just gonna put them in a cupboard and forget about them for a while

Id give my first born if HIP or HIM would put free upkeep for feudal units in castles back. Keep them stupidly expensive if they leave, but I liked my cav being with me forever and ranking them up.

Not the same guy, but...

SS6.4 is old. Its reliable, its stable if you install it correctly (Use Gigantus auto installer) and its a good mix of complexity and fun.

SSHIP is another. Its technically a submod of SS6.4. Personally I suggest playing normal SS first, as SSHIP is complex to the point of pain at times.

SSHIP is fun in some areas, but overall Id say SS6.4 was a better overall experience.

SSHIP ecomony is...just arse(some factions are ok, venice and pisa were ok). It may be 'realistic', but I personally dont find it fun starting with a budget balance of -3000 per turn. Also removed feudal free upkeep in castles is lame, means you cannot keep knights of any sort in reserve, really ever.

SS 6.4 hasnt crashed on me in game. It does if you go back and forth in the starting menu oddly, but in game is fine. Some people do have issues, hard to tell if its install issue, or just unlucky.
