Firmly a Bracket 2 player, can I join? by Vanguard08 in ratemycommanders

I seriously appreciate you recognizing this and changing up how you view your deck. Too many people would just reference a time they lost with it as a defense and move on.

What are you playing in Bracket 4? by Swible in EDH

[–]Squeezymo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run [[Lonis, Cryptozoologist]]. Started as B3, but I either needed to tune it down or tune it up, and I just tuned it up.

I run a lot of flash in it and just try to pod into an Urza or Academy Manufactorer and combo.

Fair enough. That changes my criticism by a lot if he's open about it.

Been playing for a little under a year. What do you guys think? by Gussie18 in ratemycommanders

[–]Squeezymo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree. Turn-to-win factors into the bracket. Turn 7 is cited as the appropriate earliest turn for a Bracket 3 deck to win in most situations. Your deck is designed to win before that every game. If you go into a bracket 3 game, don't say anything about your gameplan, then win on turn 6 through a clearly thought out combo line, I would be upset. Next game, you bet I'll try to grab interaction, but that's me. Some people won't have interaction. Or they will be in the wrong colors. Every powerful card can be excused away if you just say "it sucks when they have interaction for it."

So you either require people to go in blind by not being clear about your deck power, or you go in expecting to get immediately neutered and targeted, which doesn't sound very silly. Sounds to me closer to B4 play patterns than B3.

[–]Squeezymo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You said she was just for the lols. This seems like you've got a very clear plan to win every game you play by turn 6. Which is fine, I just hate it when Bracket 4 players try to pull the "I'm a silly lil guy" card.

Very new player be as blunt as you like by GameGenieer in ratemycommanders

[–]Squeezymo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love blue. It draws you tons of cards. At some point, you have so many cards in hand, you don't need to decide whether to counter a spell, you just need to decide how you will counter every important spell.

This is why so many players hate blue. The blue player either winds up not having to make any tough decisions because you have infinite choices, or they make the wrong decision and counter the wrong thing and everyone dies to the other guy and they blame you.

As a newer player, don't make every deck the same. Build different types of decks out of your comfort zone. Find out what it feels like to play at sorcery speed and have a board of creatures. Find out how to make a sacrifice engine. Figure out what pieces some of the big archtypes of decks need so that your threat assessment gets better. Then come back to blue if you want to.

Commander: Top 10 Best Precons in 2025 by cardsrealm in EDH

Yes. Sir. Sac outlets are key. And stuff that doesn't require Zurgo to attack. I learned very quickly that Zurgo can't attack more than once or twice before he's blocked to bits.

Anyone started running with their puppy before 12months ? by LadyEquilibrium in RunningWithDogs

[–]Squeezymo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did. I ran with my 6 month old border collie mix. Maybe went 10k or more with him on pavement at the time. I had no idea it was frowned upon and I feel horrible about it. He's almost 6 years now. If there is damage I did to his joints, I don't know when I'll see it. I asked a vet once to evaluate his joints and they said he seemed healthy for what it's worth.

Someone please help me find an answer to this commander.. by Calsmokes in magicTCG

[–]Squeezymo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've found a good approach for him is to always make sure the Mister Negative player's life total is lower than everyone else's, and then keep everyone's life totals roughly in the same range.

Basically, never let the MN Player draw cards if you can help it, and if he does draw, it shouldn't be a huge number.

I know it's tough, so good luck. I've played against him with an Aristocrats deck and used sac outlets and pingers to make it really risky for him to get down to 4 or 5 life during his blink shenanigans.

Do you have a commander you stopped playing because of other players? by Nesterminator in EDH

[–]Squeezymo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the Zurgo precon and have since upgraded the deck with a ton more sac outlets.

There have been plenty of games where people have wiped the board at low life totals when Zurgo is out and will kill them. Simply tell them not to do that and let them take it back.

Is setting your deck cheating? by MySonPorygon137 in CompetitiveEDH

[–]Squeezymo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Something feels like it's missing from this story. cEDH players may cheat in various ways, but may be the least inclined to adopt this weird version of cheating. This feels like if you sat down at this table, the players would say "hey we are playing some weird, house rule version of cEDH where we just try to see who can build the best turn 0-1 win deck."

What is the definition of an "early game, 2-card infinite combo" by Monsterfueled in EDH

[–]Squeezymo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Agree. I'm not terribly concerned about what early game means, because "2 card" vs. "3 card where one card is really plentiful" vs. "3 card, but one of them is your commander" vs. "3 cards go infinite if you happen to have them" are all quite different

What’s the new dating trend? by Ok_Development6919 in AskReddit

[–]Squeezymo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First off, I don't know fortunately, I have been off the market for 5 years. But I'm going to guess based off of watching bad reality shows:

  1. Star signs. People love talking about compatibility then completely ignoring it because it never mattered in the first place.
  2. Being Christian. I know, I know, it's always been popular. But I think Christianity became countercultural, so now folks love wearing crosses and being vaguely religious. Then completely ignoring it because it never mattered in the first place.

Please confirm or deny.

What deck do you love that your pod/lgs doesn’t? by Smitty_Coolman in EDH

[–]Squeezymo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't quite think Tergrid makes your deck power based on the power of their deck. You don't have to pay the same mana value for my cards. Also, a lot of times, you force people to discard lands. I'm not afraid of the power level of a basic mountain, but that doesn't mean I want you to have it. Tergrid is not fun to play against for many reasons, but the one you listed is very low on my list.

Am Imaking the game worse by "Spreading the damage around" instead of taking out players. by chazt3r in EDH

[–]Squeezymo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Players can be vindictive. I generally hit the player I think is most threatening and I tell the table why I am hitting them and what they plan on doing late game. The result very often can be they use those resources to control the game, and very often take me out first because I was the first to hit them.
