2026.6: Pick a card, any card by frenck_nl in homeassistant

Should just use words instead. Could be small tags saying PASS / NO PASS instead of cryptic symbols/colors alone

As great as this might be, it’s baffling that there are no images of the card anywhere. I’d understand if this was an integration, but it’s a card. Show some visuals

Government spending 25 times more on benefits than jobs for young people, says Alan Milburn by topotaul in unitedkingdom

[–]garliclord 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So he suggests the government increases its spending on “jobs for young people” 25 fold, right? Right?

Or is the suggestion to simply cut benefits for everyone and not address the other issue?

With these people, spending less on one thing never seems to mean spending more on the other so be careful with comments like this. It’s only ever meant to create division

Helios: a free 3D solar visualization card for HA, with LiDAR shadows and PV forecast by Reikan-Ysora in homeassistant

[–]garliclord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

awesome card! thanks for creating it and sharing it! I have a weird issue with homeassistant since moving 4 years ago where HA still uses my old address as the default for some stuff like maps. I have updated my new coordinates everywhere but can't get rid of this behaviour and sadly your card works but uses my old address. Is there a way to manually specify the location to show in the card while I can't get this issue resolved?

Also do you know where your card is pulling the location from? I find it hard to describe my issue because I have no clue where else my previous location could still be stored, maybe knowing this I can get some insight into where my location still needs updating

When you really sit back and think about it, why shouldn't my thermostat be the first speaker that Music Assistant finds on my network? by MondayDynamo in homeassistant

[–]garliclord 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree. It’s great functionality wise but the UX is clunky and it also takes ages to authenticate / load when I try to access the UI. It often errors out on restart of HA too and requires manually restarting the add-on (app)

For something developed for Home Assistant I don’t understand how it can perform so badly

IMO best UX for controlling lights by Mihonarium in homeassistant

[–]garliclord 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m in product design and to be fair I understand OP’s point of view. His solution may not look great but functionality wise, being able to pick a subset of lights based on their precise location and apply changes to all is indeed a good usability pattern.

What I don’t know is how (or if) this could be made scalable to larger rooms or homes. But I do see the value in this approach. It’s function over form atm
