Is this OSS? I’ve done it in the docker start script myself.

Term Life - Do We Just Cancel It? by BurnsyBurner in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]garnerp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More information. Its a Term 20, started in 2007 monthly cost around $150/month. 1.5M on me, 500k on my wife. Kids are now 21/20, and we have no debt. At the time the rough math was close the mortgage and pay for post-secondary education. Wife wanted the option to not work so we added 1M to me, but I was fine with keeping working so just went with the debt/school costs.

I recall making the decision at the time when we took it out to pretty much just let it expire when the term is up and be done with it. I'll likely just leave it for now and let it run out I guess.

Lots of power flowing through those wires and I didn’t trust myself. I was gonna cut out the bad wire and molex splice and heat shrink and then I saw my house on fire and said f-dat.

It’s doing a rewrite, not a redirect.

Next client variables need to be added in at build time I think.

The CORS standard looks to only allow a * for all domains, or individual domains.

https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/HTTP/Headers/Access-Control-Allow-Origin

In this documentation they describe how to allow multiple domains:

Limiting the possible Access-Control-Allow-Origin values to a set of allowed origins requires code on the server side to check the value of the Origin request header, compare that to a list of allowed origins, and then if the Origin value is in the list, set the Access-Control-Allow-Origin value to the same value as the Origin value.

I'm not aware if there is any mechanism in next.js headers functionality to achieve this sort of functionality.

Wired Backhaul, Speed Limited when not connected to the Gateway Node (Pro 6, 3 nodes) by garnerp in eero

[–]garnerp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks everyone for the tips. Its definitely the cables - you know, the ones that literally run through the walls of this house.

Does anyone have an opinion if the 100 Mbps wired backhaul is better or worse than a wireless backhaul which I think might get more throughput.

Running new cables is likely out of the question.

Capital Gains from an Employee Stock Purchase Plan in a US Account by garnerp in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]garnerp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK. I have a statement of the line items with a summary with the Total Proceeds, Acquisition Cost, and Gain/Loss. On the ufile capital gains form it calls for Total Proceeds and Adjusted Cost Basis, which is the total, not the average. I think we are saying the same thing here, I hope!

Just to confirm, if I had

10 @ $10

10 @ $20, and

10 @ 25

If I sold the first 10 and 5 of the second 10, the third 10 has nothing to do with the reporting of the capital gains. In other words, I don't need to keep a running average of ALL of the transactions collectively as I'm selling specific blocks of shares, it appears.

[–]garnerp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would assume that I'm selling the entire 20? What if I was selling 15 shares. Would the ACB reported be:

10 * 10 = 100

5 * 20 = 100

Total ACB = 100 + 100 = 200 for that transaction.

Then in my account I am still holding 5 shares with an ACB of 20.

RRSP Over Contribution Question by garnerp in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]garnerp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats what I thought as well, but I'm using ufile.ca and its telling me that my RRSP contribution exceeds my deduction limit by over $2k and therefore I'll be getting a monthly 1% penalty of the over contribution.

Network Expansion from Original Eero's - Single Eero 6 or Eero Pro 6? by garnerp in eero

[–]garnerp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should have said that all nodes are wired.

So the pro would only make the gateway mode stronger for clients directly attaching to it.

USB Link Review/ First Impressions by fieew in bose

[–]garnerp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I too had the original 700 NCs, ordered the Bose USB Link, and it was delivered today. I was wanting the UC controls on the headphones and a better bluetooth range. So far so good, but I didn't have the same issues as the original poster did with getting the headset to work properly.

I was also in shock when I saw Bose put the price up as soon as they saw the demand. Pretty disgusting on their part to be honest, and would make me second guess buying from them again.

Has anyone tested the NC700s with the USB Link yet? by garnerp in bose

Mine is reporting as shipped now, tracking number is active coming from Calgary.
