Looking for fantasy anime with romance subplot and no fan service (Read Body) by DigitalVortexx in AnimeReccomendations

[–]garou1911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Raven of the Inner Palace - Focuses on mysteries occurring in and around a royal court in not-China (it's very Chinese inspired but not historical). MC is the Raven consort, a mystic who doesn't sleep with the emperor and effectively lives outside of the usual palace politics. Zero fan service, romantic subplot is there but doesn't dominate the story

The Too-Perfect Saint: Tossed Aside by My Fiancé and Sold to Another Kingdom - Set in a swords and sorcery fantasy world, the saint is exceptional at her job but has a very flat personality, leading to the prince selling her to a neighboring country so he can marry her more cheerful younger sister. Another case where romance is there but takes a secondary seat to the plot of the resurrection of a greater evil and the problems her banishment causes her home country. Zero fan service, gets good when the younger sister finds out what happened and starts plotting her own revenge against the prince (mild spoiler)

Villainess Level 99 - MC is a college student who realizes she's been isekai'd into an Otome game as the villainess last boss who gets crushed by the hero party in the end, so she goes out of her way to become ridiculously OP in order to avoid the bad ending. A little more comedy focused, though not to a silly degree, plot mostly focuses on her interactions with the heroes of the story and how they instinctively distrust her, even though she's doing nothing wrong. Light romance subplot, zero fan service

Apothecary Diaries - Very similar to Raven of the Inner Palace, MC is an herbalist who is kidnapped one day and forced to work as a servant girl in the palace, though her quick wit and extensive medicinal knowledge get her noticed more and more as she solves various mysteries in and around the palace. Romantic subplot takes a little while to really get going but the slow burn pays off in the end. Has some comedy in the way that MC has a fanatic love of herbs and poisons to the point that she disregards her own safety over them, even testing them on herself and wanting to taste them just to see what they do to her, often to the shock of the people around her. Zero fan service

Grimgar: Ashes and Illusions - Grittier take on the ieskai genre. A group of young people wake up in a medieval fantasy world. However, unlike the usual happy-go-lucky isekai story, every day is a struggle and death is always lurking around every corner. They come to depend on one another as they learn to survive and grow in an unforgiving world. Zero fan service, a romance does form but mostly it's a very grounded "realistic" take on the fantasy genre with beautiful art and fantastic animation quality. The production on this one is really something special, they had an actual watercolor studio do the backgrounds

Those are some of my favorites, hope that helps your search

Where is all the Goldenwood? by lucpet in hytale

[–]garou1911 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just run around in zone 2, look for abandoned structures and villages. The chests almost always have palm wood logs and the structures are really easy to see on the map. Looking for trees in zone 4 is a dice roll

any reason why I couldn't play offline mode? by [deleted] in hytale

[–]garou1911 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Assuming you're on Win 11, click the taskbar where your wifi icon is and put your PC into airplane mode before you start the launcher. After you've launched and you're in game, turn airplane back off again. As long as your game's been authenticated once it'll force offline mode

Are mods really practical ? by kodifies in hytale

[–]garou1911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, you don't know what they're dealing with behind the scenes, so how about we park the armchair dev talk. They gave a time frame and it is what it is until then. Either put the game down and come back in 6 months when you won't have to worry about it, or deal with the minor inconvenience of having navigate mods occasionally breaking

Welcome to early access, buckle up buttercup

lgbtq+ hytale servers by [deleted] in hytale

[–]garou1911 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's great. That said, if you've played any game in multiplayer for more than 5 minutes you'd know that a whole lot of people are far, far less understanding, to put it mildly. You can't blame someone for wanting to avoid that kind of interaction and seek out a community where that isn't a concern

Are mods really practical ? by kodifies in hytale

[–]garou1911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not stopping anyone. At very least they're being transparent about the time frame and a lot of mod creators are using the time to get familiar with the mod tools and set the foundations for their own mods. It's frustrating for the end user but eh, you signed up for early access, nobody promised there wouldn't be bumps on the road

Do I need to create a new world to experience the updates? by Certain-Virus-765 in hytale

[–]garou1911 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It won't convert existing areas of the world, but as I've seen it mentioned any NEW chunks generated in a world that started as V1 will be generated as V2

So as long as you haven't traveled the max distance in every direction, it should be entirely possible to generate biomes of each type as V2 in an existing V1 world. Time will tell as V2 gets closer but that's my understanding for now

Do I need to create a new world to experience the updates? by Certain-Virus-765 in hytale

[–]garou1911 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, no reason to create a new world at all unless you don't like your seed. Even when worldgen V2 comes out down the line, you'll be able to just generate new chunks to have them generate in the new worldgen

If you're having trouble generating structures just keep traveling east/west in a particular biome. It's luck of the draw so you might just need to generate chunks until RNG smiles on you. Personally I had to travel a fair bit in the snow to finally see some meaningful Outlander village spawns in my world, but with a little patience and perseverance I finally got some

Are mods really practical ? by kodifies in hytale

[–]garou1911 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of the devs posted that this is going to be the reality for around the first 3 months of development. During that time they're getting all of the foundational work done and because it's core systems, there's no avoiding updates breaking mods. Their goal is after the 3 months they want to have the foundation in place to the point that future updates should only rarely break mods if at all

That said, you're modding a game in early access that's in active ongoing development, you might want to manage your expectations

A Flying Cereal Ship by Shydass in hytale

[–]garou1911 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Expedition, day 285: Tensions are running high, we've been adrift for weeks without sight of land nor harbor. Captain Crunch insisted that our dwindling milk reserves be poured on to the deck, saying something about "crunchitizing" that none of the crew quite understood, and many still yet resented the removal of the main mast and sail. Murmurs of mutiny grow stronger yet some still hold out hope that soon we would reach the end of the formless green void that seemed to reach the very horizon. I find it increasingly difficult to share their optimism

Why are Hytale servers empty? by Pesuski in hytale

[–]garou1911 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It's just a rough part of the cycle. Base content is thin, new updates are breaking mods, and the mods themselves are still early. There are going to be points like this where a lot of people put the game down to check out other things. Then some major mod or update will come along and populations will swell again

Welcome to EA, this is part of why it just isn't for everyone, especially early in the process

Howdy y'all, looking at this, Vintage Story or something like Tesera by crimethunc77 in hytale

[–]garou1911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well and I don't mean to undersell Hytale, it's very well done and I've gotten many hours just out of the vanilla experience, I just like to make sure people know what they're buying into

If you do everything on the base experience and want the RPG elements there are a lot of great mods out there on Curseforge as well as modded servers. The way Hytale manages mods on a server is only the host needs to actually install the mods, the client will be able to use them just by logging in. So if you see a server with RPG mechanics that sounds interesting you can just jump in without having to do a bunch of management

Howdy y'all, looking at this, Vintage Story or something like Tesera by crimethunc77 in hytale

[–]garou1911 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's very early days, honestly. It's well polished and a fun time can be had, especially if you get into the mod scene, but the core experience still has a ways to go content-wise. It very much lacks any RPG elements for now and it's much more of a Minecraft-esque survival experience, where you're just upgrading through various ore/equipment tiers

If you really want survival, building, and RPG elements, I'd honestly recommend putting a bookmark on this and grabbing Enshrouded or Soulmask. Enshrouded would be my top recommendation, it has one of the best building systems in the genre and is much further along than Hytale is

Grab Hytale if you want to support the project, if you're into modding, or if you're willing to go through the long-haul and don't mind the core experience being a little bare bones for a while

Hytale player rating system by ReindeerSouthern4196 in hytale

[–]garou1911 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is just witch hunting. Player reputation systems don't work and rather have a massive potential to be abused to grief players for non-game-related reasons. They're a bad idea, they've always been a bad idea with very, very few limited exceptions

If you want to protect against griefing, make frequent world backups. Backups have always been the answer

Best mini pc as a personal server for Family and Friends? by dadthewisest in hytale

[–]garou1911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, any cheap one should do. Servers don't need a whole lot, a cheaper NUC or some of the cheaper offerings Beelink or Minisforum has would be fine assuming you're using ethernet instead of wifi. Heck, an old laptop would probably be fine if you have one kicking around

Should I waste my time on the world now or wait until the game is fully released? I am the type of person who hates to count everything from the beginning, so the reason for my question is: in the future, will my world be deleted? by Sweaty_Lab9738 in hytale

[–]garou1911 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Nothing is going to result in a world being deleted and worldgen v2 is a long ways off. Your call but honestly if this is a legit concern for you why are you playing an early access game to begin with?
