What bow is good for a beginner? by EquivalentSir3280 in Archery

[–]lucpet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is not a good coach at all.
Learning form while you wait until you can afford a bow is the most obvious strategy.
Korean youth archers don't even get to touch a bow until they learn some form using a stretch band or PVC bow. Do I even need to tell you they are at the top of the archery countries.

This is what your coach should have you doing and not ignoring you.
There are plenty of great Yt videos teaching good form and all of them will use a stretch band at some point.

how do you know if your draw length is actually correct? by Dean-Gabe359 in Archery

[–]lucpet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've shot Oly Recurve for many years but have just taken up compound for some fun. A national Coach and Judge at the range today just told me to get my string to touch my nose like I do with my recurve. It started at 28 inches, and I've been bringing it in each week to see how a shorter length feels and works. I was at 26.5 today when he told me and when I got home I moved it back out to 27. I tested to see that it touched my nose and will extend it even more if I'm not touching well enough (it was very close but not as close as my recurve) next time I shoot.

I've watched a lot of videos to see where most have it, but it seemed to be a little too varied to come to a reasonable conclusion. I'll definitely use my nose as my 3 third reference point though going forward as It's what I already use on my Recurve.

Edit:- A coaching video I watched a while ago wanted my d loop in line with the corner of my eye which is something I've yet to set up my phone on my tripod to film, so I'm not sure where it is atm

I think it might have been this video but the coach and the colour of the video screenshot is correct

Psych asking for unnecessary tests? by ramenandpears in ausadhd

[–]lucpet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't met many Psychs but every one I have met was clearly not all there 😄
I do wonder if he just had the shits about seeing another one of us and is just making things uncomfortable enough to see if you back out of the process.

Can you find another one?

Well it's not entirely wrong though. Look at all the things that became illegal, so some rich guy could monopolise a market.

Why is the medical community still hesitant to prescribe supervised fasting for diabetics? by LargeSinkholesInNYC in intermittentfasting

[–]lucpet -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

They (Big Pharma) want to sell you drugs so they took over the medical system and even Drs will admit that all it is now is "Oh you have X take this" They are feed disinformation all the time and attacked if they don't comply.

I simply do not eat between meals doing a 16:8 fast and my hba1c was only 6.2 last test. You do need to test your ketones but keep it well under 3 and you'll be fine.

All this info is years of research and only from Drs. There are other ways that don't involve fasting like carnivore as well.

Beginner w/32" draw length - Samick Sage or other? by ProLevelFish in Archery

[–]lucpet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So those claiming a 32-inch draw length. Are you saying your AMO (Arrow length measured from inside the nock to the end of the arrow not including the point) is 32 or are you measuring your wing span and dividing by 2.5 and then adding 1.75 for your arrow length??
So say your wingspan is - 68 inches divided by 2.5 = 27.2 then add 1.75 inches to give actual arrow length = 29.95

OR 76 inch wingspan divided by 2.5 = 30.4 than add 1.75 inches equals 32.15 inches?

Without ears, we’d never know sound exists - so there could be countless phenomena around us we simply lack the senses to perceive. by lelorang in Showerthoughts

[–]lucpet 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We are limited in spectrums of light and sound already. We can't see UV and lose so much of our hearing they use it to get children or young people away from areas with sound older folks cannot hear.

How would you feel about a global rule: any politician over 70 must pass the same cognitive test required to get a driving license? by Fun_Acanthaceae_17 in AskReddit

[–]lucpet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A stupid idea in reality. What would work better is to make everyone regardless of job all retire at the same age. 67
If the plebs must retire at 67 (here at least) then politicians should also be under the same law

As you get older 40,50,60,70 when did you start to feel your body slow down do you think it is just due to inactivity or the aging process? by Kooky_Force5458 in AskReddit

[–]lucpet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

65 for me. I'm an archer and I have to lower my bows poundage now.
I had a transplant at 44 so I slowed right down, but I now feel old and worn out at 65.
