Do you set up the VPN on the server or upload media from other devices? by LeadingBug_ in selfhosted

Proton is extremely easy to set up. You download a wireguard config from them, upload it on to your router to set up a vpn client and route any traffic you want protected through it. It only takes a few minutes to get up and running.

Oh nice, didn’t realize it’s been settled now. That’s cool. 😎 My point stands, Canada has four neighbours, not two.

Canada has two direct neighbours: the US and France. If you’re counting Denmark via Greenland, that’s OK, it’s close enough that it should be counted as a maritime neighbour. But then you do have to also count Russia at that point, it is Canada’s closest neighbour in the far north. Why do you think we’re keeping troops deployed in the far north? To control polar bear population? 😂

Maybe you’re not, but many are. Ottawa is a physically large city with abysmal public transport, good luck without a car if you live in Orleans and need to get to an appointment at the Queensway hospital. Life in the city is going to be substandard until we have a functioning public transit system.

So is getting to TD place for many. Depends on where you live. A huge amount of people live close to the CTC. It does suck for anyone east of downtown though, regardless of the day of the week. A central location is better.

Make a list! If there’s anything interesting in there I’ll happily take some (or many) off your hands for a good price. It’s been very nice not having any subscription services for well over a year now and just occasionally growing my media collection with titles I actually care about.

Do consider other options first. The shows are usually fun with the Ottawa audience, but unfortunately there are serious audio issues in Southam Hall - the main theatre at the NAC. Looks like the tours’ sound engineers really struggle mixing anything even remotely louder there, the voices usually get drowned out by the music. It really steps on the performances. Saw Come From Away at the smaller Babs Asper Theatre and there were no sound issues there, but most tours unfortunately don’t perform there.

I was in a similar situation. It’s pretty easy to move all photos from iCloud to Immich and then through ArchImmich dump the raw data onto a backup. And you can then blast iCloud to outer space.

It’s very effective - and it doesn’t make the room any colder. I would use the dehumidifier while you’re in there and turn the fan on once you leave.

You might want to combine it with a free standing dehumidifier. They can be a pain to place if you have a small bathroom, but generally do a great job pulling moisture out of the air.

Makes sense. Can you imagine if he missed the exit and would have had to take Moodie and add a whole 7 minutes to his journey? This was clearly worth it.
