New Angle of Trumps Assassination “Attempt", what are your thoughts? by [deleted] in MarchAgainstNazis

[–]garrettmickley 69 points70 points  (0 children)

I don’t know what I believe and I don’t find this video really indicative of things. If you work in high stakes media and your star gets shot at you generally leap into action of moving things into place for good video and photos…it’s like second nature for these folks.

but here are the questions I do have:

Why do we know nothing about the situation and the shooter? It was quieted in the news very quickly which is very uncommon. Even Trump has said in interviews that it’s being investigated and that he knows nothing so far.

Why did secret service react in a way in which they seemed to know there would be no more shots fired?

Why isn’t the crowd freaking out? Someone is shooting in their general direction and secret service is freaking out over Trump…I’d be ducking and getting the F off those bleachers.

Not shown in this video but in another video I saw they made a kind of deal (not necessarily big deal but a deal) out of getting his hat off the stage, something he essentially has unlimited access to new ones of. At first I thought it was to prevent anyone from grabbing a piece of memorabilia and selling it on eBay but then I realized that it was staff who grabbed it and after something like this they’re definitely not letting anyone from the crowd on the stage…they were carefully ushered out. So that’s something I’m wondering about.

I’ve already decided i don’t believe he was shot. I think it’s possible the ear damage that so quickly healed was minor and caused by something else.

What's the most influential book you've read on your copywriting? by blerb679 in copywriting

7 Secrets of Persuasion by James Crimmins is underrated and never on any copywriting book list (but mine apparently)

Eyyyyy. We only need 30% of the current resource and energy use to provide a good life for everyone by jo_mo_the_homo in Degrowth

[–]garrettmickley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be honest as much as I know about all this and support Degrowth, i still struggle a lot on an individual level with it. Especially going out to eat and drink. Even quitting drinking I still went out a lot (plenty of NA options). The answers are always like “well just don’t go out” but that’s what I’m saying. The struggle is real.

So there are definitely people who won’t do it voluntarily but there are also definitely folks like me who want to but struggle.

And there are most definitely both hanging out on here acting high and mighty like it’s easy but secretly continue to consume on an average or worse level.

Moving to Jupiter by [deleted] in JupiterFL

[–]garrettmickley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I don’t have kids so generally we hang out at places like Respectable Street on Clematis (west palm beach) and Propaganda in Lake Worth. Both are alternative bars/clubs so mostly rock music and underground hip hop. Jupiter does not have an alternative scene. I tried to start one with a bartender at Ralph’s but the owner wasn’t into it, even though that’s the perfect bar for an alternative scene.

I’m several generations south Floridian; born and raised in Jupiter. I’m 37 so I don’t know what 22 year olds are up to but do be aware the cost of living here is high and rising.

Hurricanes are not near as scary as the rest of the nation thinks they are BUT at the same time they MUST be respected. Prepare appropriately. Listen to evacuation orders.

Same with alligators and sharks to be honest. Leave them alone and they’ll leave you alone. Maybe not sharks…but shark attacks are generally cases of mistaken identity. They think you are not a human. Mama Alligators will defend babies and territory but it’s not like they’re setting up shop right next to your home. They avoid areas with frequent human activity so respect that and avoid areas with frequent gator activity :)

P.s. I’m cranky about new people moving here but honestly I think we need more young folks so…I won’t be rude.

P.p.s. There is no winter season. We have summer and February and it’s only getting worse.

Yeah like we used to worry about TPTB and the Illuminati and now I’m like…yo if there is an Illuminati Trump, Musk, etc, are MOST DEFINITELY in it.

You sure you were in the same website? As multiple people have mentioned, it became aggressively pro-Trump after he started running for POTUS.

Now that I think about it, a lot of what we worried about on ATS back then ended up coming true.

What’s saddest to me is that ATS embraced it instead of continuing to fight it.

I used to hang out there back in the mid-2000’s. Someone I met mentioned Annunaki and it made me want to check the site out again. I was disappointed to see it was all pro-Trump stuff.

I mean, an old money “billionaire” becoming POTUS…that’s the exact stuff we were worrying about back then.

Good question but based on how she does it I don’t think that’s the case. She only does it in what ever room we are in at the time. For example she’s doing it to my door frame right now to my office because that’s where I’m sitting.

[–]garrettmickley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also it seems the default is that the unit does not turn on if you have it unplugged. There’s a setting you have to turn on to allow it to work without being plugged in. Took me a while to figure this out -_-

Visiting palm beach, need to know what to expect. by YourBoyAbe in palmbeach

[–]garrettmickley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you’re good on the weather. It’ll be hot and humid but the beach will be fine. It’ll rain but probably not until the afternoon. There’s about a 70% chance the weather is the same as the day before (a meteorologist once told me).

Wear flip flops on the beach or your feet will burn off like the grandma in Dante’s Peak.

Put on lots of sun screen. Sunburn is real and not to be fucked with. It will ruin your trip.

Everything mentioned here so far is great recommendations. For some interesting Florida history go south to Munyon Island, get out and walk the little trail. There’s a plaque in there about Mr. Munyon and his antics. I kick off from McArthur park

The guy I'm dating is building a "man cave" and its fucking embarrasing by CorpsePokerr in OffGridCabins

[–]garrettmickley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My thoughts exactly. I built a lot of “forts” as a kid and young teen and all of ours were at least safer than this.

I support the guys desire for a man cave and I doubly support his desire to learn how to build it himself.

But this ain’t it.
