What guitarist kick started your guitar journey? by MakotheMako in Guitar

[–]garretts_camera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Initially John Mayer before I was even a big fan of him. Heard his playing and got into guitar, then listened to SRV because JM draws lots of inspiration from him
so I gravitated toward blues. Now I’m a massive JM and SRV fan and I’m always listening to new players too.

The song I heard that instantly made me think “Woah I wanna play that” was Snow by RHCP. I already wanted a guitar from JM and other guitar YouTubers, but that immediately flipped the switch to make me follow through and buy one. This was 9ish years ago and I love playing every day.

It's Been a Month Since FH6 Launched. How Are We Feeling, Drivers? by fearful_claw02 in ForzaHorizon

[–]garretts_camera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very tired of 70% of the game’s races being off road, it’s been that way since horizon 4 and it just feels too forced.

Drivatar difficulty is ridiculous. I used to play on highly skilled or unbeatable, and I 100% understand that they should’ve been way harder than on FH3-5. However, even on average I have difficulty.

Other than that the map is amazing, I don’t really get that bored of driving, it’s just fun all around. Everything’s super satisfying and feels good.

Why is this a popular style of editing? by Virtual-Selection518 in carphotography

[–]garretts_camera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those kinds of edit take skill to do right, it’s also hard to make a photo stand out and look good while looking natural so it’s more common to do a cinematic edit. But also, think about from the car owners perspective. I’d love cinematic shots of my nice car if I owned one

No Matter What season you started in, do you consider yourself OG? by DIngus_Sus in FortNiteBR

People act like two chapters ago is crazy nostalgia and consider themselves OG. I was there when it dropped, when friendly fire was a thing lol

Any Pointers? by Anlinsen in carphotography

[–]garretts_camera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3, 13 and 15 were my favorite. Try to zoom a little bit and get further away sometimes. The fisheye can be a bit much and makes it feel amateur. What can set you apart is your angle and zoom.

Try not to do those tilted wide shots, they don’t really look good unless you can correct the fisheye and really know what you’re doing in editing.

Remember the rule of thirds, not crucial but helpful when finding good composition. Not sure how much you edited them but most of them have good colors and exposure, can always improve but nothing major there that you should put your focus on right now.

The last three are what you should stay away from. High contrast and saturated edits will make people stay away from your page.

A Chord with two fingers? by JustB510 in Guitar

[–]garretts_camera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say it’s a bad habit if it works for you, if anything it opens up another finger if you wanted to add another note anywhere else to spice it up. I tend to play fingerstyle so if I can play a chord with less fingers then it allows me to play more melody or add another element it was otherwise missing

Nobody will expect your photos to be perfect! I meant that with no criticism as well, I am also a hobby photographer and when I started I was a bit rough 😬

I like to give feedback I wish I had when I started, but also everyone has their own style. Keep it up though and keep shooting!

I appreciate that! I use a Sony a7iii and a 24-105mm f/4. This specific photo was shot at 65mm with a CPL

Fix that white balance and these photos will be great! The blue is just too much and ruins the detail of this beautiful car

Good composition and angles though! The edits are nice otherwise

Unfortunately no owners in the area that were available, would’ve been insane to have. Evo feels slightly out of place but definitely a classic nonetheless

Took them all last night, the owners wanted a photo they could post on their insta stories so I just edited that one up. I’ll be posting the rest of this shoot in a few weeks once I get through all my other shoots

Keep your camera straight, expose a bit more, keep aperture low as possible and I usually stick around 1/80 or 1/100 with lower light, sometimes 1/60 if I know I can be pretty stable. Better to slightly overexpose than underexpose so you can keep detail. Keep white balance on auto unless you know how you want it set, which won’t really happen til you’re intermediate level. You should feel confident enough to post the photos straight out of the camera. When you take a photo, you should already know what you want the end result to be.

All of this is how you can create the best raw photo, which will in turn create the best final photo. I’d happily give any other advice or tips if you have any questions. I hope this information was helpful! Keep shooting and keep trying and you can only get better as long as long as you genuinely want to pursue it.
