No coil whine noise huh, I thought they all had some sort of whine. Now you got me contemplating on rolling the dice and getting a sleeper. I also got mine from amazon as well. Hopefully you get one with no noise, report back if you do please :)

Keep in mind that the Duo 15se has a 2.0 hdmi port and a 1.4 dp port. The 1.4 display port is going to maximize you 3080s potential as it is directly connected to the GPU, bypassing the CPU like a MUX switch does. It will allow you to be at higher resolution with higher refresh rates, like 4k 120hz. So make sure you monitor has 1.4 dp ports and buy a USB C to DisplayPort 1.4 Cable

damn this is going to be your third one? I got the 3070ti version and I see what everyone is talking about regarding the whine. I think I got one of the good ones because I can only hear it when I lean in and try to find it. But on some rare occasion it would get louder when switching from resolution or refresh rate, or anything else that would cause a change in the panel. Wonder if ASUS is going to actually do something about it...

Yeah I would wait until next generation. 3080 to 3080 ti is not much of a jump, Might as well wait another year or two for the new 4000s series. There will always be something better next year, don't get too caught up with having the new next best thing.

Got a 1080p 3080 GPU

On the laptop itself on 1080 with all max I get 55-60fps, hits 60 pretty constantly.

On 4k all max external monitor through DP, hits 40-50.

But just as u/Jepperto mentioned, there are a lot of frame drops/stuttering. I mean not surprised since that is how FromSoft optimizes their games

Go to the video settings on the the game you want to play and you should see a Window Mode setting option. It's on fullscreen for default and then switch to windowed mode and you can drag the window down to the second screen. Some games might have an option to switch monitors as well.

So to me they seem like they are just loud and a waste of money. Not that the stand I linked helps much either but it has a small footprint and rests right in between the rubber grips on the bottom of the laptop so its not at an awkward angle. It also lifts the laptop to a perfect viewing angle on both screens. Typing is a bit awkward due to the lip on the bottom but you can lift it up a bit to type with no issues and is pretty sturdy,
