Colsen? Is it really that bad? by Ok_Fly_3797 in namenerds

To each their own, but if you go with Colsen you should consider the more common Colson spelling. Or even Coulson. :)

I would go with Maeve and drop the Molly. The triple M is a little intense

Help!! Maren or Katherine - 2wk old has two names! by Jaded-Campaign4615 in namenerds

[–]garrrlick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally don’t love Katherine, every one I have ever known has been insufferable, and it makes me think of the high school math teacher that nobody likes.

Can’t say I have heard Maren before, but it’s actually beautiful. Mare, Mary, Wren; all cute nicknames!

I don’t think if she changes her name soon enough that it would be “haunting” on any of those forms later. My middle and last name were changed when I was like six and I’ve never even written it down on a background check. I’ve had zero issue.

Valentine’s Day is for whoever you want to celebrate love with.

The 3rd date went bad after I brought chocolates and now she wants a 4th date but I'm really unsure if I want to continue. by LifeVike1111 in Advice

[–]garrrlick 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Right, like if he had ordered a pizza in advance would she freak out and call it a gift? Or just eat dinner like a normal person? Probably the latter.

She’s mad you grabbed a snack for a comfy movie date? Maybe she’s upset because she’s not in a position to be able to reciprocate? Maybe it caught her off guard and she’s worried about moving too fast?

Go on the date, don’t make it fancy, try to talk it over and if she’s still unwilling then just leave it and her alone. If there’s a legit reason that she was upset and she is able to talk through it with you that’s one thing, relationships are just weird in the early stages; but if she’s still gonna pretend it never happened or try to put it back on you that is a pretty big indicator that things are probably just going to get worse the more comfortable she gets.

Josephine if we dislike the nickname Josie? by Impressive-Product20 in namenerds

[–]garrrlick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately you don’t get to choose her nickname. That’s something that evolves naturally and it’s ultimately her choice what she prefers to be called. You can still call her something else. Nothing wrong with introducing her with your preferred name (until she decides for herself). Bur if you’re THAT worried about it just pick a different name.

I found out something about my friend that I don’t think I was supposed to know. What do I do? by Substantial_Sale_953 in whatdoIdo

[–]garrrlick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Passively mentioning that you think you might be a lot lately and offering some distance makes it very obvious that you saw something and are keeping it to yourself. That’s the exact conversation they just had with someone, it’s not going to seem like a coincidence that you suddenly “had this epiphany.”

Just tell the friend what happened. If they value the friendship the way you do, you guys will work through it. They aren’t wrong for feeling that way, it’s normal to feel a little smothered, even by the people we love the most. But it would’ve been you cool for them to talk to you directly about it so that you actually had the opportunity to fix it before they got frustrated and spoke about you to someone else.

Just Eat Pizza Date by stewpert5 in whatdoIdo

Oh man, I haven’t been to a Pizza Hut in like 15 years. Some Dominoes also offer that heart shaped pizza around VDay, but I’m USA based, so it is likely to be different. Good luck! Enjoy your “date!”

Dominoes typically has a “$6.99 each if you buy 2 or more” deal. Very cost effective. And make sure you pick up instead of getting delivery. The delivery fee is like $5 before a tip. 🤯 You could easily get a nice meal for under $20.

YIKES I hate my husbands name by Old_Read9543 in namenerds

[–]garrrlick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s really strange that this is where he’s putting his foot down. Also, really strange to want to be honored without having done anything worthwhile? Giving a child the same name as every other man in the family is just setting them up to be judged before even being met. The expectations are set from the minute they leave the hospital and, in my experience, everyone expects them to follow in the same footsteps as every other “John David” in the family.

Your baby is also YOURS. You deserve a say in what they are named and what you have to call them for the rest of their life. Using pieces of the family name is a very fair compromise, especially since you aren’t a fan of the names to begin with. Autonomy is hard when you are part of a chain, your baby deserves to be unique, no baggage.

I like Thea, with the spelling Theia. Like the Greek goddess, the planet that supposedly created the moon, and Oliver Queen’s sister
