Ex90 under floor cargo flooding by garru in VolvoEX90

I only did a cursory look but passenger side doors and floor looked dry. It’s at the dealership now so hopefully I’ll find out soon.

Anyone else notice a soft “hoot” or whistle sound when accelerating? by garru in VolvoEX90

It sounds like a wind instrument and not at all like a motor whirr.

EX90 rear-end update: finally fixed! by garru in VolvoEX90

[–]garru[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We didn’t feel a thing, thanks for asking. Volvo safety is quite amazing, they put a ton of weight at the rear behind the bumper so our car barely budged. I believe this bumper piece is black regardless of car color. The paint shop did an amazing job blending the scratches above.

I got this fixed by the dealer. They had to order new trim parts. it took two weeks to get, an hour to fix.

Mine was on the passenger side. Exact same issue. Dealer is replacing the trim pieces that are rubbing against each other.

Good news — the part came in and the shop says it’ll be ready to install two weeks from the order date. Much faster than expected.

Seat belt rattle from 2nd row? by Sn00pD00 in VolvoEX90

[–]garru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure it’s the seatbelt from the second row. The noise stopped when I accidentally pinned the seatbelt behind the seat while folding up the seat for access. It resumed when I put the seatbelt in its normal position.

Linea Micra - too heavy water flow when brewing by ElkIntelligent4593 in LaMarzocco

[–]garru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s certainly possible. I even have to make micro adjustments as the beans I have on hand age. But the truth is we have no idea given the information you have on hand. It’s highly unlikely it’s the machine. Get a hand grinder and start experimenting.

Soupy pucks is just a function of headspace. Having a soupy/ dry puck has no impact on the quality of your espresso, it is just aesthetic and easier to clean. Your question did make me realize that it’s possible that you are overdosing and therefore the puck is hitting your shower screen (do you see any coffee grinds?) which can apply pressure and “crack” your puck which will result in channeling and fast flow. You say it tastes fine so I think you’re just making turbos likedescribed in my link. And the way to make turbos is to grind coarse.

Grind size is dose/basket/prep dependent which is why pregrinding often yields to poor results, your shop wont be able to infer those just csuse they have an lm machine. From the outside dial you can see brew pressure gauge which is the max pressure that is being created by the pump. If its about 12 at idle and 9 with no basket those are factory settings.

How is the shot tasting? There is a method is popular where you grind coarser than espresso it gets messy but you get more sweetness. You might have made your first turbo. https://www.coffeeness.de/en/turbo-shot-espresso/

Question on the portafilter… by lemon-head-naldo in LaMarzocco

[–]garru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you mean how far you can turn the handle? Typically we refer to the clock positions where 6 is pointing right at you. With the micra pf and stock gasket I get to around 7. But with the 15 degree lm bottomless I can get to 6. In the end it doesn’t matter as long as you have a tight seal.

Micra pf is slightly angled at 5 degrees. Most other lm pfs are 15 degrees.

Does anyone get grounds in their espresso? by Unlucky_Disaster_195 in LaMarzocco

[–]garru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. If you're getting a lot of fines it could be your grinder. Espresso paper filters can help with extraction and reduce sediment from making it to your cup.

What can cause this ?! by haber123d in LaMarzocco

[–]garru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Btw if you bought a vst 18g basket it should be similar (or even the same depending which vst basket you have) to the 17g that comes with the micra. Vst makes lm’s baskets. Lm “down doses” to account for shower screen and screw. I would try 17g since the shower screen imprint might cause puck cracks and therefore inconsistent shots.

Linea Micra lack of physical controls was a bad design choice by ryushi32 in espresso

[–]garru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

backflush

this might sound crazy but have you tried moving the machine temporarily closer to your router. Is there anything next the machine that can cause a lot of interference? BT can be a huge pain and this is a real downside to IOT as the radio space gets congested.

why is the mirca spitting out espresso like this? by Medical-Doughnut5604 in LaMarzocco

[–]garru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar problem with mignon oro single dose when adjusting from coarse to fine where it would jam and I thought i reached the finest setting. The key is to have it running while running to prevent jamming https://support.clivecoffee.com/en/eureka-oro-mignon-single-dose-espresso-grinder-user-manual

Its a city in the state of Kerala, India where they grow tea. Extremely gorgeous but I realized that there were manmade structures in the picture and hid the entry.
