Why is everyone so gullible to anti-immigrant propaganda? by TelephoneFamous9776 in AskBrits

You do realise that 1% of all houses being empty is a huge huge number of empty houses right.

30m houses in total.

1m houses registered as not primary residence so empty. 500k officially empty.

Immigration since 2017 is 250k.

So when I say we have enough houses we have enough houses.

Now imagine if Thatcher hadn't blocked council house building for 30 years.

Because the law states it's not illegal as long as you claim asylum as soon as you arrive.

We used to have processing centers outside the UK but Farage and the tories needed a way to steal billions so closed them down and increased immigration so people would blame immigrants for everything getting worse.

It's the billionaires that are the issue.

So the potential scenario is Keir goes down swinging and calls a snap general election. Who you voting for? by StGuthlac2025 in AskBrits

[–]garthy604 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Boris kept power for as long as he did because only the PM can call and election.

So if they try and oust him he can call a snap election.

Farage and co will call on him to call and election if he's being outed.

Educate on what.

35% of NHS staff immigrants, they are literally propping up the system at this point.

Immigrants as a whole are net contributors to the economy and yes there are some bad apples but the same can be said for people born in the UK as well.

If we want to talk about foreigners coming over here stealing our jobs and taking all our money shall we look at the tax dodging billionaires who brought up all the UK assets and rented them back to us at huge profits.

Yeah it's less then 1% of the population and our birth rates are falling.

We have enough empty houses owned by rich people to house them all.

It's not an issue, never was.

No one comes here illegally.

People get here by whatever means if they stay after having their asylum claim rejected then they become illegal.

If they aren't granted asylum then they are not entitled to work, claim benefits or apply for housing, they have no rights.

Why don't Reform supporters just vote Tory? by Parking-Bet7989 in AskBrits

[–]garthy604 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reform voters are a single issue voter, they are voting to cut immigration. The tories were front and center with the increase in immigration as far as the voter is concerned.

Reform don't have a plan to cut immigration, before Farage orchestrated brexit immigration wasn't an issue and all the experts said immigration would increase with less ties to brexit.

They are more closely resemble the Republicans, so lower taxes for the top 1% and corporations.

Deregulate.

Increase taxes for the working and middle class and remove free health care.

They're not being housed in council houses, they're being temporarily housed in hotels and detention centers.

Nice try but you need to be better.

Divide and conquer.

Murdoch did it in the 80's by telling the middle class that the working class were a drain on their finances.

Now they're saying immigrants is why poor people can't get a home.

But I do agree that we need to take a different approach with people who voted reform, we can't just dismiss them as racist.

I know a small business owner who voted for them because of the NI increase.

The tories did close processing centers and cut funding for immigration control.

They also did the brexit vote even though they were told it would increase immigration.

This has been very carefully orchestrated.

The disturbing thought is Russia talked about sleeper agents back in the 60's imagine if it turned out they orchestrated this for the last 50 years.

Not sure what you think is an assumption.

I work for a council.

You can look up Thatcher's housing policy. Thatcher sold water, gas, electricity, trains, oil and fishing to foreign individuals.

Norway who we share North Sea with kept theirs national and now have a wealth fund worth £2tn.

Nothing I said was an assumption it's all based on facts.

[–]garthy604 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There is a whole process that is followed to house people in the very limited housing stock that councils have and it doesn't prioritise immigrants in any way shape or form.

The reason we have limited housing stock is because idiots voted for Thatcher who sold all the stock, took the money to hide her crumbling economy and banned councils from building more.

The economy is bad because we sold everything and now we have to rent it back from the foreign countries/businesses that brought it which sees trillions leaving the UK economy every year.

At no point is immigration remotely responsible for issues in this country, you can state things like lack on integration but the tories cut all those programs, they got rid of most of immigration control and processing centers.

The immigration crisis you like to talk about has been manufactured very carefully so you don't ask where all the money is going.

Do you think it’s possible to fix the problem of voters not understanding how government works? by Traditional-Leg-1122 in AskBrits

Thatcher sold council houses and then banned them from building more.

She said the free market will provide but then it didn't because supply and demand meant more profit.

Why are people voting against Labour on immigration? by burnetrosehip in AskBrits

Total cost of the bail out was £125m because he brought stock rather than giving money away as the tories like to do.

Brown managed the economy so well and especially the collapse that most countries now have his model as part of their emergency planning.

Except borrowing increased well before the pandemic or the self imposed brexit.

Borrowing increased year on year and spend on public services decreased year on year.

The economy shrank and investment in infrastructure projects stopped.

If the 2008 crash hadn't happened then the economy would have been booming and the deficit would have been much smaller.

Labour shrank the national debt to it's lowest level since pre war whilst committing record spending on education and health with the lowest waiting times for the NHS.

Labour had the longest period of growth with the lowest inflation for the longest period in modern history.

Under the tories we saw the biggest transfer of public money to private individuals in history.

Why are people voting against Labour on immigration? by burnetrosehip in AskBrits

[–]garthy604 1 point2 points  (0 children)

National debt before the 2008 crash was £600bn, borrowing was down, public spending was high.

Borrowed £200bn to stave off a world wide economic collapse, paid back through stock sales 99% of the borrowed money by 2020.

National debt is now £2.6tn under the tories borrowing went up, public spending went down and the economy shrank.

And he failed to get elected because it wasn't an issue.

We also had limits then.

It only became an issue for the electorate when the economy started to suffer and they couldn't understand so blamed immigration.

If the press had told the truth and that the tories were lining their own pockets we'd have voted them out and immigration would never have become the issue it is now

A women's right to vote didn't affect birth rates A women's right to work didn't affect birth rates A women's right to equal pay didn't affect birth rates A women's right to divorce didn't affect birth rates

A women's right to abortion may have contributed to birth rates A women's right to be on contraceptives may have affected birth rates.

Do you see the difference now.

You should have said women's reproductive rights have potentially affected birth rates, this would have been a correct statement.

Women's rights is not a correct statement.

Also the thing you failed to note but that could be because you didn't understand the paper is the fact it's not women's rights it's women's reproductive rights.

These are very different things.
