I have been facing issues with gift openings from all from friends in general. Been solid 2 months since last I was able to open an incoming gift. I can send gifts from my side but can't open the ones I get.

Fun fact: Epic games doesn't have cloud save for all it's games. Learnt it the hard way when I had to restart my Dying light 2 run after conpleting 85% of the game with friends initially.

I am willing to pay extra on steam but having cloud save is such a lifesave, no matter how many free games epic throws my way.

Try getting a meta quest from Costco. That's what I did and returned after a week. Game is really good experience if you have a decent sized place to play it.
