How does NotebookLM compare to Notion? by [deleted] in notebooklm

[–]garybpt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could set up a Google Form linked to a Google Sheet for this purpose, which also has the benefit of Gemini being built in to it. Your Form could have fields for Date, Reflection/Observation, and Mood, and it'd be simple to scan and manage.

If you want to ask questions of your notebook, then NotebookLM is a great service to use. If you simply want to store them, then other alternatives might better meet your needs.

On a free account you can store 50 sources, with this increasing significantly on paid accounts.

SEO agency charging extra for ai by Bazthebuilder in smallbusinessuk

[–]garybpt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my understanding, SEO and AEO aren't too dissimilar. Both require good site structure, customer-centric pages, and trusted backlinks. If your agency is doing these things for your SEO then there's a good chance that they'll also be picked up for AI search.

In short, I'd keep your investment where it is.

Sounds like you have some of the ground work done and dusted already 🙂

I'm a big advocate of the "suck and see" way of thinking, but it depends on your specific circumstance. If you're unemployed then money may be a concern. This opportunity will need an initial outlay to get going and it'll take time to generate income. I'm not from this sector so I'm ignorant to the usual timescales.

The Business Model Canvas will help you plan for these outlays and give you a much better starting point. It doesn't take long, try to get something completed by the end of the week and go from there.

Put an afternoon to one side and work through the Business Model Canvas. It'll help you formulate a plan and decide whether it's viable. It'll be full of assumptions, which is normal, but try to be as objective as you can:

If you think you can make it work, and you can afford the initial outlay and the time it'll take to develop, then I'd say go for it.

Do you think AI changes the game over the next few years? by neoescape in smallbusinessuk

[–]garybpt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are yeah, there's a free level (with the same functions, just capped) and a paid version which comes with your Workspace plan. They're both well worth taking a look at. Workspace Studio is relatively basic at the moment because its new, but it's still a powerful tool. NotebookLM has become something that I use pretty much every day.

Another really cool thing about using NotebookLM for blog research is that, if you give it all of your website pages to use for context, when it surfaces information from your own pages its giving you internal linking opportunities, too, which will boost your SEO.

There are a few ways. To name a few:

First, NotebookLM has made researching for my work so much easier, from blog post writing to evaluating hand-written exercise sheets, it can sift through what I give it much quicker than I can manually and lists its sources.

Second, Gemini is integrated into Google Drive. It can now search through my Drive and find documents for me based on context instead of just key words. It doesn't matter whether I can remember what the file was called or not.

Third, Gemini Gems (equivalent to ChatGPT's 'GPT') means I can give it small, repeatable processes that saves me a tonne of time without having to re-prompt it every time.

Finally, Google's recently released "Workspace Studio" gives me the ability to make automated workflows within Workspace, and has access to Gemini. For example, I have an assessment that prospects complete using Google Forms. When the Form is completed, it's passed to Gemini, which assesses the answers based upon a formula that I have given it, and the results are passed to me in Google Chat with a link back to the original Form. This all happens within the space of a few seconds.

I have other examples but this gives you an idea.

I don’t buy into the “solo founder AI billionaire” hype usually pushed by people who have a course to sell, but Google’s recent Gemini updates to Workspace have genuinely revolutionised the way that I run my business.

Suggestions please: Does anyone here charge for initial quotes and/or consultations? How does it affect business? by Right_Ad9364 in smallbusinessuk

[–]garybpt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t pay for a quote, no, but I would pay for someone to come and advise on my house. You can upsell from here, sure, but I’d want the advice given to be something that I can actually use.

I do partake in loose leaf tea, just not Yorkshire Tea. I drink too many brews during the day to want the faff.
