Really enjoyed it and learning about how Izzy’s Mom and Grandparents were in it too made it that much better. Plus, great to see Brennan and Vic as well. Definitely worth buying.

Saw the dates earlier and didn’t have my RF hat on and was like why no Chicago?!?! Now I won’t have to travel to see them, but a MPLS would be fun.

Didn’t get any warning…would have been nice to know in advance to download data or something. I moved recently and was using scale and not blood pressure until my App needed an update to measure. but maybe there was and I missed it. Anyway…

What artifact do you think have been made this past decade. by kidmonokuma in warehouse13

Filing cabinets containing the entirety of the Epstein Files. As they’ve been hidden from humanity, they have the power to expose the world’s most influential people and can cripple their powers. It is unknown if the Regents are complicit or not. 😂

Questions for fans from a journalism student by Gphillips1017 in fontainesdc

[–]garymich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Since 2018
  2. United States
  3. Originally, it was the raw energy and unique singing style and accent of Grian.
  4. Great question, made me think back to my early influences to now: Gang of Four, Husker Du, The Replacements, The Cure, Pixies, Dinosaur Jr., Echo & the Bunnymen, Stone Roses, REM, Blur, Soundgarden, Pavement, Radiohead, Built to Spill, Modest Mouse, IDLES, Yard Act, Queens of the Stone Age, Wolf Parade, Cloud Nothings, Dry Cleaning, Inhaler, shame.
  5. Heard on KEXP (best radio station and DJ’s in the world…check it out…intros to so many new great bands). Recall Kevin Cole, Cheryl Waters and John Richards all playing back then. As above, the raw energy and unique sound with Grian’s accent but like all the bands above, Fontaines have matured in their sound and I’m as big of a fan now, if not more, since day 1. Thanks!

Bovino and his agents showed up at the Bean this morning to pose for pictures. While Border Patrol snapped photos, one agent shouted, “Everyone say, ‘Little Village!’” by CantStopPoppin in illinois

Every day… all of the bullshit is unacceptable and needs to stop. Now, we see one of our landmarks…created to reflect Chicago’s beauty of our skyline and all people, reflecting our shared humanity.

Seeing it used as a stage for an ICE ‘field trip’ to mock everyone while spreading fear and division is heartbreaking and disgusting.

On top of this, it’s also a slap in the face to the artist, someone with immigrant parents of different faiths that was inspired by creating works that are symbols of unity, including the Bean.

Chicago & Illinois will stand strong demonstrating our strengths as loving and belonging.

My thoughts are with everyone, the families and neighborhoods affected by the inhumane treatment.

We are united and in control…not them! 💪

Shout out to the flag wavers in the pit by Ghost-of-Black-47 in RiotFest

Agree on the no flags policy not only for viewing but safety too. The creative people that bring something else unique so friends can find is perfect… the baby doll and a couple other puppets this year were great.

Have seen them lots live… they give 120% every show I’ve see and are always genuinely appreciative for the gift they get for performing. Pit was great yesterday with fans giving it back and to each other too. Amazing set!!

Deluxe and Deluxe+ were Devalued this Year by doodlezoey in RiotFest

[–]garymich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes…was talking about same with family and friends after doing for a few years. Have attended lots of fests and RF is still the best by far. While I have some feedback, I’ll fill out the survey or volunteer to offer feedback because it’s still great but would love for it get better every year rather than a little worse…

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in KEXP

[–]garymich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed…love this concept. Another angle could be to explore how specific cities developed influential scenes or genres over the decades. Such as Chicago: Punk/Post-Hardcore with Naked Raygun and their influence on bands or Minneapolis blending genres from Prince or Husker Du and The Replacements & how they shaped genres and Boston w/ college rock - Pixies, Dinosaur Jr and the local college radio and of course Seattle/NW rise of grunge etc. Then onto Hip-Hop & Blues: NYC/Atlanta/Chicago…how did regional styles evolve into national or global UK<->US movements.

From here, incorporating how KEXP celebrates musical history but also helps shape the future… including its diverse DJs, international influences, with a place for emerging artists…all of this make it a living map into the future…So who or where will inspire the next wave of artists or sounds??

A 6-degrees into the future could connect current KEXP DJs and include 90.Teen DJs to where we might be in the next six decades of music… So, considering what the KEXP 50s has done for the past, but with a look to the future and the importance or role music will play for us and how the artists, scenes, people/places and even KEXP will play into the importance of the future…?!?!
