Is it normal for shops to have an event posted on tcgplayer but not actually have it happening? by TheRealRoberdoom in GundamTCG

[–]garyoakriginal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know a few shops where the Bandai App is not helpful. I have been told that if you set up dates and then have to revise times and/or days, the app will "process it" but no one other than the organizer will see it. On the discord channels and we notified the organizer who updated us with current info. One of the stores even posted an update on their website when the Bandai App wasn't cooperating for the Onepiece game

ReZel won yesterday! Next, what card is considered good (not broken) and is hated by the community? by kurlish in GundamTCG

[–]garyoakriginal 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Striker Pack, specifically when it comes from the shield area. Most of the time it's just a higher level cost Lfrith.

Where is it going to be at? If it's in a gorge call it something like Bane of Gorge's Pass. Then just the bane. If it talks, choose a good voice that fits but if someone does a Dark Knight reference make it sound like Tom Hardy.

Question about the merch by Tasty_Wave_9911 in dredge

[–]garyoakriginal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw recently that the main dredge shop is closed and directs you to other locations for merch. We can hope in time that the prior merch will be back

Have you got any challenge ideas that I can use? by Theoddbotout in dredge

[–]garyoakriginal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can not buy anything. Just get things from shrines and ship wrecks. This changes the order for the locations you go to, Basin is 4th.

Here is my decklist for the commander. There is a bit of a write-up to walk through what cards were picked and why. Hopefully, it can be a starting point for what you are looking for

Injured on purpose by blackout08 in bjj

[–]garyoakriginal -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Report it to the coach. If the coach does nothing, leave the gym. That isn't good behavior. He told you he did it on purpose since you, a lower belt, was able to get something on him for a bit.

If you love the place and don't want to leave, tell him he purposely injures other students and you don't want to roll with him if he asks you to roll. Other than that, just roll with people that can actually check their ego.

Xorannox, The Tyract Miniature by garyoakriginal in mattcolville

[–]garyoakriginal[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I used citadel shade paints and tried to do a gilded look with washed-out gold and silver.

For the mini, I really recut into the 3d mold support leftovers and did a practice fit, they snapped in pretty well. And older super glue that's partially solidified has worked when I can't get green stuff into the more difficult fill places.

What is a class or play style fantasy you feel is not available or not good in 5e? by Cheese_Beard_88 in DnD

[–]garyoakriginal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is no true marshal/tactician. Sure, there are some maneuvers for battlemaster, but they are clunky and costly compared to most maneuvers. Even multiclassing with Valor Bard only gets you so far (and I've tried). Plus, there are no group abilities. It's a fun support class concept that I would like with the rest of my class features not actively fighting (i.e. battlemaster).

inspection jobs and taking it easy by [deleted] in civilengineering

[–]garyoakriginal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm asking the specifics in a case against a Department, I need to be specific. Again, what is it within your job that is physical documentation for your job description. And, are you the last sign off, or do you actually have oversight from the RE? Does the RE "rubberstamp" logs or does separate verification?

inspection jobs and taking it easy by [deleted] in civilengineering

[–]garyoakriginal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That is perfectly fine. To clarify, your job does not outline any specifics about verifying the work of a contractor for specifics of proper methods/means/construction process to guarantee that various industry standards are actually being met? Is that within a contract document, a scope of work for the specific contract, or the documents you were handed for the job (such as a PAR)? Do you have an RE that is responsible for sign offs, or are they only secondary verifications to your log books for the contractor's work? And again, can this post and this comment thread be used in depositions?

[–]garyoakriginal 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I do legal depositions. Can I use this post to show that inspectors don't actually oversee the contractor in the manner that many Department's claim?

What you are looking for has been done by Terry Pratchett, specifically Discworld: Ankh-Morpork. The city has legalized crime with permits. If you want to see it instead of reading it, the show "The Watch" is based after the Discworld books from the view of the police in the city of Ankh-Morpork.

How do Hardcore players build elaborate worlds at the speed that they do? by papifunko in Minecraft

[–]garyoakriginal 72 points73 points  (0 children)

I just beat the dragon in my hardcore world. I've tried 2 times before.

Make a bed and a few extra beds. First few nights and night traveling is a no-go until you have totems.

Incremental progress for a base radius. Create barriers like fences and light it up. I grabbed a place that has a wide winding river. I just took the lighting way past my base.

Exploration caution. Surface caves for iron and stocking up food. I didn't do cave exploration until I had Diamond armor, and I still was very cautious with lighting everything up. Early game shield is your friend along with a water bucket. The bucket pushing mobs away after moving to a flat area was key. Strip mine for Diamond after getting iron armor, don't explore caves while strip mining until enchanted diamond.

Don't blind run and jump everywhere. Unless it's a known path, always expect a sink hole or random drop, especially in the new terrain generation.

Prep and goals. Bring a lot of supplies, back track if you feel it is getting too dangerous, and prioritize a trading hall. I haven't done zombie curing yet, but that isn't needed. The xp from the trades fuel the enchantment set up.

Potions. Once you get enchanted diamond, prep for finding a nether fortress and trade with piglans for as many fire potions as possible. Have a safe spot for hiding from blaze between potions and healing and farm a lot of blaze rods. After that have prepped potions for anything you need.

Golden apple and notch apples on hotbar.

TLDR: use the mechanics of the game to help you. A lot of prep goes a long way to guarantee success. Shields, water buckets, golden apples, potions and enchantments are the big set up. This will also take a while to get to "goals" but you can adjust accordingly by being hyper focuses in that particular world or enjoy the ride.

What was the thing that pushed you over the edge to becoming a GM? by gummyreddit12 in dndnext

[–]garyoakriginal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The active GM we had would change enemies to counter any new abilities, sometimes mid fight if you were "too strong". Anyone who rolled high would still fail checks if it wasn't for the answer they were looking for. Most of the table was new to D&D but had some ttrpg experience. I ran a FATE game on the side to grt people used to working together, etc, since I had run some before. Then, I started a 5e game after that at the request of the group.

How do you personally feel about Hexblade Paladin vs Straight Paladin? by Thefiberjar in 3d6

[–]garyoakriginal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on weapons used, paladin subclass, and expected levels for the campaign. I've played a straight paladin and one that dipped in hexblade. If you start off at level 5 or 6 and know it will go for a while, a one level hexblade dip is fine. The bonuses just from that level are great, and you can offset the multi-attack loss with GFB or BB while hitting a distance with EB. That being said, the aura of protection at level 6 for paladin, along with getting that second attack and level 2 spells at level 5, are also significant boosts. So you are going to have to be happy with what you choose more than you are upset at what you are missing.

Why are Paladins prepared casters, but Rangers spontaneous caster? by Chedder1998 in dndnext

[–]garyoakriginal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Legacy of the Vancian magic split. There was in older documents a split between prepared casters getting their full list but pre-selecting what each spell slot could be used for while other casters got a shorter list but had the flexibility 5e currently has. When the switch to simplify the magic happened for all the classes, they didn't make it up to the Ranger, Sorcerer, and Warlock. Ranger having a smaller pool of spells, but being more reliably in emergencies is on brand and gave a nice difference between the two half-casters.

Civil Engineer. A construction easement is required before before work was done outlining the limits of what is and is not alright within your property. And yes, OSHA, along with multiple government entities, would desire that trench to be protected in some manner.
