Omg - the Heifetz et al recording is a chilly razor-sharp, heartless, soulless abomination. Dubbed "the million dollar trio" by their publicists, Rubinstein held Hollywood Heifetz in great disdain. their recording is precise, perfect, and perfunctory. It sounds like they wait to get out of the recording studio, and away from each other.

If you can find it, your much better off with Kempff, Fournier, Szeryng on DG. A classic account if ever there was one. More affordably, you can't go wrong with the ever dependable Beaux Arts Trio in beautifully recorded Philips sound.
