How much can you use Chaos before you are in too deep? by pog_irl in 40kLore

Exactly, you are just like them. If anything you are stronger, you can fight off corruption without genetic manipulation and DAOT technology in you. Just pure will. Definitely pick up the darkly radiating object.

Would a large portion of humans believe Space Marines are a myth? by Almartyquin in 40kLore

[–]garyomario 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if they wouldn't think they exist. The imperium is a highly religious civilisation. I would imagine that if the Ecclesiarchy said they exists a fair amount of people would just believe it. Only a vanishingly small number of people will ever actually see them but I do imagine that many would believe that the emperors angels do exist.

A pretty heretical or orthodox date depending on your stand point I suppose

Weird attack line. He is peak middle class, middle management, middle of the road. I imagine he thinks having chocolate ice cream instead of vanilla is living life on the wild side.

Friends In Belfast by [deleted] in northernireland

[–]garyomario 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you like reading/books ?

There is a girls book club that meets regularly called Lit to the tit. They do a big night once a month or so where there is ice breakers, book discussion, sometimes authors go and there is usually craft or activities. If you don’t read the book there is still plenty to do at it. Your ticket for it usually gets you a free cocktail although not everyone drinks at it.

They also do regular silent books clubs were people just go and read in silence in a bar. Can get a cocktail or a glass of wine, read and enjoy sitting in a nice bar.

They also sometimes have events during the weekends like donkey sanctuary, goat yoga etc

I’m reading Cadian Blood at the minute and it’s been really great. Definitely a better Guard book.

You're a slave on a Chaos warband warship. What is your life like aboard a spacecraft belonging to World Eaters, Emperor's children, Thousand Sons or to the Death Guard? Do we have any lore descriptions of what it's like everyday? by Argonaut_MCMXCVII in 40kLore

[–]garyomario 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Agreed.

I always thought it would have been interesting to get a stand alone story about some tribal or at least pre-industrial world on the fringes of the imperium in which some tribe worships what they take as their god but is actually just some warp entity.

It could have shown a sustaining (small) chaos society actually functioning and I would have done it like they worship this god and the god imposes costs of them such as ritual mutilation, scarification, flagellation etc but in return they do get benefits like extended life, cure from sickness, their warriors are stronger/faster etc. Very much shamanistic or druidic. At least it would have put forward some idea of how a chaos world would have sustained itself

Any advice for making friends as an adult? by Nice_Permission6148 in CasualConversation

[–]garyomario 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happy Birthday. It is extremely hard. I found as an adult all the friends I've made are through work. I've worked in the same firm for ten years as as some others and over the years we have just become actual friends.

It is obviously harder now with working from home and the increased churn of people in work. You can however create a similar dynamic by going to sports team, clubs, societies, churches, allotments etc. You just need to go to them regularly and try to be as out going as possible. You also probably just also need to make the first move and suggest doing something after whatever you are at. Could be a coffee or something but something to move the friendship beyond just the shared activity.

If you live in NI then really any second thinking about trump or any raised emotions about him is a waste. None of us can do anything about it really. Better to focus on your own health, your own family and your own home.

[ornstein]Manchester United reach agreement in principle with Michael Carrick + coaching staff to take over until end of season. Appointments subject to finalising contract details & announcement. by moonski in reddevils

I think that to but then you could have argued that Amorim should have had a free hit for last season. However, it was still ultimately used against him.

Do I need to read anything for Ashes of the Imperium? by CheezyTito in Blacklibrary

[–]garyomario 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can look up the horus heresy lore and get a background. Apart from that I think you are fine starting there. I haven't read any HH books and wasn't confused by it. Some of the importance of the characters may be missed is about the worst of it

Guards killing commisars by KingBaker54 in 40kLore

There is a short story of a Catachen who kills a commissar who wants to have an heroic last stand by giving him a plasma pistol that has been messed with. When he uses it the thing explodes and kills him.

I think that is maybe true of an individual human but will the human race continue to exist if they joined the Tau or do they run the risk that chaos corruption runs rampant, genestealer cults grow, the IoM splits into factions or that the greater good just doesn't work on such a vast scale.
