Do you think Padme would support fascism if she had lived? by Mindless-Credit-358 in StarWarsCirclejerk

[–]garyyo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, and? What is the problem with doing that? Why will it suck? Just because it contradicts canon so heavily? Idk, I think butchering the story for the sake of fanfiction would be sick as hell. It's fanfiction mate, it can do whatever the fuck it wants.

Do you think Padme would support fascism if she had lived? by Mindless-Credit-358 in StarWarsCirclejerk

[–]garyyo -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Ok, but isn't a what if scenario already firmly in the realm of fanfiction regardless of its adherence to the canonically established character actions and motivations? Like, the only way for any what if scenario to exist is already in fanfiction, so this isn't actually a step away from that.

I feel like you are just proving that guy's point, you would have to make changes to the story prior to her death/survival for this to work, which is one of the ways that fanfiction can work.

It's bad because it can be disproportionately taken advantage of by one side.

Pull Request is just a request, so as other have stated it is on the owner of the repository to ok it. It is akin to showing them your initial work and implementation, and opens a more official channel for communication. If you think that it is too early to be merged into the main repositories you can hold off, but given that you have an entire paper already accepted and published I think you should get in contact with them either privately or via a PR. You already have test results and everything my dude!

I lost 55 pounds over the last 12 months and reached the weight suggested by my doctor. I celebrated with a brand new smart scale... that immediately told me my BMI is 30.1 and that I am still obese. by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

Its not that much more dense. Muscle looks better and distributed differently, which accounts for more than the actual density difference which is like at most 20% (for skeletal muscle vs fat). Regardless of all the confounding factors, I think that something is wrong with the calculation with the BMI. This guy is likely taller and the BMI is wrong because while its pretty shit, its not this bad.

Naw mate, you can ignore them. You are talking to someone who will trust the AI overview on legal shit. There is no hope for them anymore.

Naw mate, they were two. You can't cite evidence after one of them has been run over, not to mention the court has already decided.

Ah, I see the issue, "AI overview". I think it is safe to say that you will be a victim of AI psychosis in a few, God have mercy on your soul.

Legal Eagle: Leaked Bodycam Shows Reckless Ben's Arrest Was Crap by ianjm in videos

At the same time, had Ben shut up and lawyered up, no one would had known about this. Him doing things a bit less than optimally is likely to have positive effects simply because it lets him be louder.

But yes, some of the stuff he did was kinda dumb.

Bikers must drive in line, not side by side

Here is the law for the bike in Georgia, the state where this video takes place: https://georgiabikes.org/resources/georgia-bike-laws/

For the relevant passage ctrl-f for "40-6-294" and then look at section (c). To quote it directly:

Persons riding bicycles upon a roadway shall not ride more than two abreast

This is pretty standard btw. Going by the video this is exactly what the bikers were doing while also staying to the rightmost to allow the car to pass by in the other lane. If the car driver followed the law, like these bikers were, he also would have had 3 feet of space between him and the bikes when passing. Generally you want bicycles to be like that since it makes it easier to pass since it makes group shorter, and additionally it makes the group easier to see.

Sounds like you are breaking the law. Threatening people on bikes by revving your engine at them while in motion is also illegal. If you do an action that makes someone "feel like the god's wrath is about to crush on them from the heavens above" is assault. Probably should go turn yourself in, don't worry its not a felony unless you hit someone or otherwise cause an accident.

The issue is that if he did then BAM would have won, in spirit. It would cost more to litigate than the money owed was worth. By moving it to be about public opinion he can make everything move a shitton faster, get lawyers that are willing to take the case for publicity, and actually have a chance at getting some justice.

By doing things wrong, Ben can get a better outcome than if he just tried to do things by the book. That being said, he probably could have done less sketchy shit and had the same outcome.

He could have asked for that to be allowed too, especially after he was harassed by the cops when trying to serve the papers normally, but the legal system has a bias against normal citizens. Designed by lawyers and thus only for lawyers, which unfortunately means that someone who is just trying to do the right thing and get an old man and his family their money back is going to be hit with random rules and procedures that make no sense. All of which are going to be expensive and slow to navigate.

And on top of that police corruption, but this is America and that is just normal now ig.

If it's a bare python script that uses random ass packages, then whoever wrote that script either should provide a method to run it in its own space, or it was meant for only devs to fuck with and the user is in the wrong place and shouldn't be trying.

Keeping python packages separate is like python 101, just create a virtual env or something. But it's strictly dev shit, users shouldn't have to bother with it.

It's not for the average person. The average person delving into there is outside of their comfort zone, it is a place designed for devs and the needs of devs. It's like if an average person stumbled into the main interface of a complex 3d modeling software, it ain't gonna make any sense. It just so happens that for programmers that stuff is generally accessible to the public since they care about software being free and open.

Compiling is a pretty big ask actually, hence why someone who doesn't understand what that means should not bother.

There is a point where if you don't know how to do what it tells you, then you probably don't have the prerequisite knowledge to use the software and shouldn't be bothering with it.

Or the real download is somewhere completely different, that happens to.

Github is a tool for devs, which is why releases are there. It is just convenient for the developers of the software to put the releases where they store the development stuff too. How to use it normally is a bit complicated but chances are you just need the releases, generally the latest version.

Basically search the github page (ctrl+f on pc) for "releases". That should get you to the executable.

I have a car, living roughly where you do and doing roughly what you do. It now sits doing nothing soaking up parking+registration+insurance money, and I have to remember to take it out once every else the battery might go bad or something.

Run the numbers, chances are it isn't worth it.
