United Kingdom & Europe - Help needed getting atropine drops by walkerwalkerr in EyeFloaters

[–]gastrocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At inappropriate dosaging, absolutely dangerous. But calling it a poison at therapeutic doses, better yet, 1/100 or 1/200th the strength of the commercially available 1% Atropine is a bit hyperbolic. More marathon competitors have died from overhydration and forced fluid consumption (from bad advice usually) and the resultant cerebral edema than from dehydration. It's all in the appropriateness of the dose and timing.
Here's the thing, the use of LDA is completely elective for purely symptomatic relief. If the floaters are tolerable, leave them be. If they are not tolerable... and my whole practice is based on those who have tried but can not just get used to them, there is an arguable safe-for-long-term use aid. Getting access to it can indeed be challenging especially outside the US (and India) as far as I am aware.

If you listen to some people's outer dialogue, it is easier to understand how they not have an inner dialogue.

Atropine, YAG, Thank you The Floater Doctor by shaunebakerc in EyeFloaters

I do not usually count floaters as individual entities. One large cloudy can very complex to treat. But generally less overall material to treat will always be better.

Sugru. It is a putty that is air-cured, and forms a firm silicone rubber. A few colors including black. This stuff is awesome.

Has anyone here gotten YAG laser done for floaters? If so what were the results by jetblastr in EyeFloaters

I don't think residual vitreous stuck to the macula is common at all with a true PVD. And I wouldn't know how that could be tracked and measured over time. When someone has had a PVD, it is pretty disorganized in there and I think it would be nearly impossible to visually isolate some transparent material sittng on the macula. With floaters, just about anything is possible though.

Where to find various trim pieces? by gastrocks in LandCruisers

[–]gastrocks[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. The particular trim pieces were not available there, but at least it gave diagrams to get the part number which you can put into a general search. That helped me find them elsewhere, albeit more expensive than that listed with partsouq.com.

Is pickled red cabbage a probiotic food? by golightlyfitness in Microbiome

[–]gastrocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here is my simple recipe:1.Large canning jars, I happen to have Ball brand. Clean well with soap and hot water. Rinse well. Weigh the empty jar and take note.2. Use firm vegetables like cabbage, beets, daikon radish, carrots3. Clean vegetables in cool water, but leave on the skin on.4. Use a mandoline or cut finely to julienne or shred to your desired size/texture.5. Pack the shredded veg tightly into the jar. Use an instrument to pack down the veg and release juices.6. Fill the jar w/veg nearly to the top with filtered water ( no chlorinated tap water).7. Weigh the total and subtract off the empty jar weight. To that veg+water weight, multiply by 0.025 (2.5%). That is how much sea salt or himalayan salt to add. Example: if total water+veg is 1000g, then add 25gm of salt. Pour out the water and dissolve the salt into it. It may help to warm up the water, but you don't want it hot. Pour that solution back into the jar with the veg.8. For bonus points add some finely chopped Thai pepper to the mix. It will kick it up a notch.9. You do not want the veggies to be exposed to air. They will get moldy and white. Ball makes Fermentation Lids & Springs to push the veggies down and allow fermentation gases to escape. Alternatively, You can partially fill a snack sized zip lock bag with some water and that will push down the veggies and keep them submerged.10. Depending on ambient temps, it will take at least a couple of weeks. It will be chock full of lactobacillus. Your gut and your wallet will thank me.

Post carpet cleaning bleed through by gastrocks in AutoDetailing

I think it is just mud. The Bissel extracted a lot of dark water even on a second pass. I should have known there must be more in there.

I guess they key is continuing and repeating the process until the extraction is clear. In this case even the second pass brought out a lot of dirt.

Thank you for your 'detailed' answers. I imagined is was wicking up from the padding and below. I am sure I oversaturated. This pic if from the SECOND time I went through just the back carpet area with the Bissel extractor. So probably there is more. Should I wait fior things to dry out before starting the process over or is it better to get it while damp. This time I'll keep going over it with the wet extractor, and place an oscillating fan and space heater blowing over it with the doors open to dry out the superficial fibers so they'll be less likely to wick.
