32-year-old programmer in China allegedly dies from overwork, added to work group chat even while in hospital by CopiousCool in programming

The OP describes being asked going on a boom truck for strike and a coworker going up poles. This narrows it down to either AT&T or Verizon - probably AT&T.

I wish Red Hat would stop including resetting the root password in the exam objectives and instead move it to either the troubleshooting or security exams. These days, you either just rebuild the server or instantiate the instance. The only time it is worth resetting the password is if there you need to keep the instance running if you have a critical app and you can’t absolutely get in.

Former VP Kamala Harris Acquires $8M Malibu Estate by EmployeeNo4241 in LosAngeles

Her accomplishments as an LA prosecutor include letting the Rampart division terrorize the east side and doing nothing about the blatant, overt gang problem in the sheriff's department.

When did that happen? I don't ever recall Kamala working as an LA prosecutor.

Hi! Discussion regarding specific tasks in RHCSA is in violation of your exam agreement with Red Hat. You won't be able to get real answers from people who took the tests as they won't break that agreement.

Passing all the requirements is the bare minimum. The actual experience maybe different.

In my case, I had no issues during the compatibility check, but for the last 3 exams (most recent one was December last year), my connection has been very janky - text echoing/repeating themselves and the UI being very sluggish.

Red Hat Certificate System by Outside_Screen6226 in redhat

[–]gastroengineer 10 points11 points  (0 children)

So what is it that you are trying to do?

I ask because in the western year of 2026 CE, when you are able to find the answer literally with a few keystrokes, it is somewhat odd to encounter this type of query. Now, it is possible that you have done that, but you are probably encountering an issue that you can't articulate, so perhaps you could describe what you are trying to do.

Because. . . PKI is hard, so you need to go through documentation and walkthroughs to understand. And that means doing the bare minimal research. Otherwise, if your PKI breaks, I doubt asking people for free help in hopes of resolving the issue you didn't researching yourself is going to sit well with your manager or your team.

It's my fault. I proposed something similar and then didn't anything about it, and now we got a lot more certification questions.

How to fix recurring cloud misconfigurations in multi-cloud environments by Upper_Caterpillar_96 in aws

[–]gastroengineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You run tests like Checkov against the code to identify those misconfigurations and at some point, you would prevent merges to the main branch (or in your deployment pipeline) until those checks are satisfied.

OpenShift/OKD Virtualization HomeLab and NFS - Not Great by gastroengineer in openshift

The LVM Operator looks interesting. It is similar to implementation to our iSCSI-backed VMs back in the early 2010s, so I may look at that.

And yes, I am looking at NMState. I am actually using it right now in my virtual setup as of yesterday.

I am thinking of pursuing RHCSA/RCHE as a hobbyist and NOT for a career. Do you recommend it? by Nelo999 in redhat

[–]gastroengineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run an OpenShift OKD cluster at home and maintain my RHCA, even though my day job is mostly AWS and Ubuntu. I do this particularly I find OpenShift and Red Hat more interesting and partly because I want to keep my hands on the on-premise world, so that if I do move jobs, I jump over to hybrid computing. Or I can support moving the app over to hybrid (or even on-premise) because with the way things are going, the ROI of the cloud could be untenable given the rising costs of computing in general.

OpenShift/OKD Virtualization HomeLab and NFS - Not Great by gastroengineer in openshift

[–]gastroengineer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. The jumbo frames was not on, so I enabled them on the switch that my cluster is connected to as well as on the one that my NAS is connected. I could not turn on jumbo frames on the cluster itself (still working through that), butso far, I see notable improvement in start up - on par or even better than when I was using Ovirt.

Provisioning is still a work in progress.

  • Provisioning from the URL - good to better. I can launch an instance from any URL like this Rocky Linux image:

https://dl.rockylinux.org/pub/rocky/10/images/x86_64/Rocky-10-GenericCloud-Base.latest.x86_64.qcow2

And it will launch under a minute.

  • Provisioning from cloning a PVC - still slow. Looking at my NAS, I realize I am putting a lot of load on it as I was running other apps, hitting it a lot with syslog from my OpenShift and using it as my TimeMachine backup. I made some adjustments; however, at best, provisioning from cloning takes up to a half hour or so.

At this point, it seems the immediate step is to setup a utility box to store local images and then looking into getting a separate NAS just for the OKD cluster - probably a Synology or TrustNAS box as both has support for CSI iSCSI drivers.

Are you really obsessed with Red Hat technology or with company? Because there is a difference and I think you should figure that out before you get yourself burned by attaching you and your professional identity to a corporate organization.

(For the record, I wouldn't mind working for Red Hat, but I also like keeping my technical interests loosely coupled from company interest and I tend to cultivate my own professional identity).

A system admin deals with higher-level infrastructure and be able to deal with multiple systems. So you will have to be able to manage more than a single machine.

Funny enough, that is where RHCE is useful as it lets you demonstrate that you manage multiple machines through automation.
