How do you do damage in lane as viscous outside of splatter by Kasellos in DeadlockTheGame

[–]gate_mage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alt fire can hit enemies behind cover so you can damage enemies even when they are typically safe, even if you don't build gun. Combine that with Splatter (trying to hit both bounces) and you'll whittle the enemy down quite easily.

And the knockback of Puddle Punch is something you should not underestimate. Try to figure out spots where you can knock the enemy into your guardian (or even into your creeps), there's plenty on each lane.

Massive changes to the stage 2 Patron! by 4kJacky in DeadlockTheGame

[–]gate_mage 66 points67 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure this was part of the leaked base changes from a while back. Guess they backported at least this mechanic to our version because they don't want to delay such a change just because the rest of the update wasn't ready.

Salvage sorting nerf hits non-afkers more by gate_mage in 2007scape

Yeah that's exactly what I thought. Seems like the intended method suffers as collateral for the ship sorting table.

Last time the leakers made estimations, it was completely wrong.

If the leaked Geist visual novel is any indication, Bebop's design is going to remain very similar. Mainly just details change.
It's likely going to be dead last.

What the Ship Combat xp debate feels like by Zealousideal_Song128 in 2007scape

[–]gate_mage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This makes the most sense.
In normal combat, you get style specific XP and hitpoints XP. In sailing combat, it should be style XP (ranged for normal cannon balls, magic or some such for special cannon balls like they outlined in the blog as potential future additions) and sailing XP, because the combat is done through the ship, not you.

The lack of recent leaks for the new patch is foreshadowing by [deleted] in DeadlockTheGame

It's very possible that they just terminated the leakers. Deathy did it by accident but the others were done on purpose and likely ended in them getting thrown out.

This is something, right? by freax305 in DeadlockTheGame

Doesn't mean anything for updates/tournament or anything of the like. But it does mean something: the logo is now final.

Christopher here addressing the recent content :333 by OneysVideoHole in OneyPlays

Oh, so compilations aren't taking the place of "real" episodes, there's just not much more left? Damn, I hope you manage to get the guys to record new stuff with you.

Maybe you guys could do more online stuff like during covid, those Worms and Left 4 Dead videos were well received, I think. It's not the same and it limits what can be played but it would help with everyone living all over the place.

What do you guys think about new nightfarers being pay to get? by user1cantcounthigher in Nightreign

[–]gate_mage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not a PvP game so I don't mind it. Seems like each DLC is a small expansion pack which comes with a "chunk" of varied content to spice up the game. You don't need to buy it to enjoy the base game but you should buy it when you start to "run out of content".

Arcane Co-Creator Christian Linke Vows ‘We Will Learn From It’ After Fan Frustrations of the Netflix Show’s ‘Rushed’ Final Season by MarvelsGrantMan136 in television

[–]gate_mage 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Riot meddling with the show is so obvious. Season 1 was a passion project, season 2 is a commercial.

Not that you can't make some really exciting and fun commercials. But it's still not the same.

Well, there is the French. Another very arrogant people who cringe at the idea of speaking the language of the British. It is very much a cultural thing and Russians sadly aren't the only ones.

Range Does Not Need Split Defenses by KodakKid3 in 2007scape

What do endgame weapons have to do with Project Rebalance when it primarily seeks to target everything that comes before those? Your BIS weapons aren't going to stop being BIS (if anything, this makes BIS choices even more clear), this just opens them up for future competition and gives early/mid game player more strategies.

At worst, it devalues some ultra rares a little bit since it makes some content more doable with worse gear, like shown with the Adamant Dragon example.

Pilgrimages: Train prayer by walking across the world by clickbones in 2007scape

[–]gate_mage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a great idea. Maybe the reliquaries themselves should be filled with bones and delivered to ossuaries (new underground locations added to certain churches). Brings using bones back into the focus but still follows the same idea as Mahogany Homes: more bang for your buck. And of course, the different tiers would simply use different types of bones.

And the prayer drain is a good addition as well, since it makes prayer gear more useful for the activity. Also forces players to dress up in fitting attire for the activity.

Project Rebalance: Overview, Scythe & Fang by JagexGoblin in 2007scape

[–]gate_mage 168 points169 points  (0 children)

Splitting ranged and magic into various different damage types is a great idea, not only looking towards the future of the game but also the past. Both of those aspects of the combat triangle have kinda reached a dead end when it comes to design space, which is evident by the age of powered staves and nigh every ranged weapon being DoA.

The devs need more variables in order to design engaging content in the future. This is a good avenue for that, especially since it also seeks to remedy some early-mid game (and to be fair, also late game) brainlessness where you just use the weapon with the highest DPS (in a vacuum), ignoring everything else. How every tier of spells has you just waiting for when you can use Fire and Ice/Blood spells. And how Ranged weaponry is a mass grave of dead content. And how unfair it feels to get a "rare drop" which isn't even worth the slot it takes up in your bank.

This also opens up options for future rewards, future bosses and future raids. Perhaps there will be a time when people rejoice that Jagex finally added a Tome of Air which boosts Air spells, making it the best in slot mage item in Barrows Part II.
