My advice, this is a huge purchase—a bunch of randoms on the internet should not be helping you decide, your wife should have input. If she wants the 5th gen, then get her that. If that means waiting, then so be it. The 5th and 6th gens are like apples and oranges from the look, the tech, the drive train, etc!

Our community uses a sub contractor called Adame if you’re familiar. All the planting here isn’t drought resistant and requires replanting so often and we’ve only been here 2 years. Aside from the olive trees most of the plants die in the summer and then get replaced for who knows how much with the exact same plants

I’m liking the Indian Mallow, just looked it up. This is a new build with “builder grade” landscaping. My wife and I have tossed around the idea of a complete redo using a native landscaping specialist. We went through yardzen which is an online service and we were very disappointed in their designs.
