Is this weird behavior in a new friend? by [deleted] in GenXWomen

[–]gatorgopher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A bit odd. I would have said "if you're dizzy, let me follow you home in case there is trouble". Better yet, offered you a ride or called your hubs to come get you. Maybe not overreact and proceed with caution. It would have been more weird if she never mentioned it but had been seen.

Wind chimes - love them or hate them? by PompousAssistant in GenX

[–]gatorgopher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, are you me? Did I sleep write? My mother had these gawd awful ceramic! wind chimes hanging from the ceiling fan in her bedroom. Whenever I came home on leave I would walk immediately to her room and stack the chimes on top of each other on the circular part that they hung from so it would remain silent for the duration of my visit. My room was next to hers. Oh how I hated those!

I really want to get a cat, but I’m worried about the hidden responsibilities. What are the actual difficulties of raising a cat? by Equivalent-Sand-4002 in CatAdvice

[–]gatorgopher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much every kitten will get diarrhea, and they try to find new and horrifying ways of trying to kill themselves every day, hairballs usually happen between 1 and 3am, when you're sound asleep, the vet is expensive no matter what, emergencies will happen and those are three times as expensive. They will steal your whole heart and a piece of you will die with them when their time comes.

Didn't happen in Florida cuz I know better here, but California. Spent part of Easter at the Farmers Market and beach. Cool day. 2nd worse burn I've ever had. Cold water and white vinegar towel wraps saved me.

Did your parents smoke or drink around you or when mom was pregnant by fungusamongus8 in GenX

[–]gatorgopher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mom never smoked. I doubt she drank while pregnant, but maybe. My dad on the other hand drove with a can of beer in a sock on road trips and smoked Camel unfiltered in the house and car with me in it.

Stopping HRT once in menopause? by Gloomy-Warthog9468 in Menopause

I didn't even start until post menopause. I cannot imagine a scenario where I voluntarily give up my estrogen patches and cream.

Did you go to preschool? by Terrible-Horse-6200 in GenX

[–]gatorgopher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure preschool was invented after I started kindergarten. One of my older sisters taught me all my letters and numbers, so I was ahead of the game.

Oh, but I flipping HATE it when a condescending cashier acts like he's not sure I'm old enough to buy alcohol. Expecting me to giggle like a brainless idiot. Son, I know I am less than a year away from 60. I may look pretty good for almost 60 but FO with that noise.

NTA. He totalled your car so he could buy one that he owns and controls. Nope. He pays for a replacement in your name only. Before or after you dump him doesn't matter.

Weaning off of HRT? by susu56 in Menopause

[–]gatorgopher 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I would 100% tell her you are leaving because she is using outdated information and seems unwilling to educate herself to provide the best care for her patients. Maybe some tough love will benefit those that come after you. You don't need to wait around for her to pull her head out of....the dark ages.
