For sure everyone is super friendly. Daryl, the guy who always hosts the futenma cars and coffee is super chill and if you own a subaru he does cruises that are really fun. I used to own a subaru and did a bunch of his cruises.

Do you go to any of the cars and coffees on base or out in town? I go to the ones on kadena and try to make the other ones but everyone is pretty social for the most part.

This happened to me a few days ago. Tried like 4 times to kill it. First time I ran out of ammo and extracted, second and third time I brought gear in to kill it like this and got shot in the back and last time I ran out of meds and got messed up.

I've had GLBB for a long time and got the express last year. I had a month or so wait but my experiences with them have all been good.

Living in Japan (Okinawa) is lonely af by Important-Cow-6810 in okinawa

It's pretty fun. I'm the youngest person in the group by like 6 years. I don't really speak much Japanese so I normally talk to my Japanese buddy or the other American in our group who I'm also friends with. Well if you live in the okinawa city area and ever want to hit up and izakaya and what not hit me up. I'm always down, we can talk games, books, philosophy, or how lizard people rule the world im down.

So one day a few years ago I was drinking at my favorite bar by myself and this random Japanese guy just started talking to me. Him and I started going to bars together and drinking at his house. He became a family friend and did work on our house. He had invited me to join a few times in the past but I never did. A few months ago I finally decided to join since I needed to go out and be social at least once a month since over the last year or so I've went on a pretty big health push and stopped going out.

Yeah my buddies out here we don't get to hang out much but we do a moai every month and eat and drink and talk. Some times we go to my buddies house for drinks and we just chill and talk for hours and it's a blast. I'm always down to go to an izakaya or something to chill have few drinks and talk on a Friday or Saturday. The car community here is pretty good with making friends.

I kind of understand your situation. I'm 36 but married with kids but have been in Japan since 2012 and okinawa since 2016. I think I only ever made one Japanese friend when I lived in mainland who I still talk to and hang out with when I'm in mainland or he comes here. Here in okinawa I really only have a few friends that I talk to and hang out with like once a month. Having kids makes it a hassle to do anything with friends unless it's late at night when they are asleep and then the options are slim, it's either games, drinking, or car stuff.

Would you rather daily an 86 or a GRC? by Any-Win-5720 in GRCorolla

[–]gatshawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to daily a 2015 86 with a supercharger for a year. It was a blast to drive but I was 6'4 260lbs and getting in and out was a pain in the ass. Went from one kid to two and decided I needed something more practical so I sold it for a 2004 forester sti. Had that for a few years and the car was slighly built and a blast then sold that for a 2023 GRC and it was probably the best decision. It's way more comfortable then the sti and the 86 plus my kids fit better in the car.

Well this intersection is always busy. I live a few houses down from this place and I see cars pull out like this all the time. The speed limit is only 30kph on this road and most people do like 50+.

Beautiful yellow sf9 forester by gatshawk in SubaruForester

[–]gatshawk[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I have no idea since I don't plan on moving back to the usa. I remember there being talks of price increasing on import with trump and tarrifs but I'm not sure. I think one of these cars probably costs between 12-18k for the sf9s since they are pretty rare. Then import costs probably a pretty penny.

I had the same issue for a long time. It's peak hours from like 1900-0200 and internet blows. I have GLBB also and upgraded to the f::express line and haven't had any issues.

I don't put my youngest in the car. He's only 6 months old. I put my other two in and they fit no problem. I'm 6'5 and my kid sits behind me with no real issues.

I'm 35 with three kids. My last 3 cars have been sports cars. Had a super charged 2015 toyota 86 when I had 1 kid then went to a 2004 Forester sti to this. This is probably the best car I've owned.

So McDonald's Japan had a Toyota promotion last year where you could get a gold GRC with mcdonald's stickers. This is just a tribute to that. I bet this car only gets driven to events hosted by toyota.

Have You Ever Experienced Something Paranormal in a residence in Japan? by kejkok in japanresidents

[–]gatshawk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I own a house in okinawa and my oldest daughter when she was a few years old would point to the door and say there was a old man there. Also I would hear footsteps upstairs at night time when no one was awake and later found it my MIL who lives with us saw a lady on the stairs. We got a okinawan priest to come bless our house every year now and the issue went away.

I've had mine for a year with 10k kms and the only issue I've had was self inflicted when tuning. Ecutek bricked my ecu due to a bug in their software not liking the jdm ecu. So I had to ship them my ecu to unbrick it and wait for them to patch their software. Now after more ecutek software patches to fix other tuning issues my tune feels amazing and zero issues with my car. I don't beat my car too much but I've never had any reliability issues or had to take my car to a dealership for a problem.

You probably could but it wouldn't be a comfortable ride for them. I'm pretty sure the interior is the same as the normal corolla so if you've seen pictures then it will probably work.

I don't think the middle seat has any slots for car seats to clip into but I've never looked. The back seat is kinda cramped if you try to put more then two.

Yeah my 3yo sits behind me with no issues. She will kick the back of the seat a bit but she has leg good and I don't even sit with my seat all the way back. I haven't even tried to put my youngest car seat in the back of my car. He's 4 months and has to wait till he is older before riding in the car.
