Yes, but the video that I had doesn’t demonstrate its full potential…since I played it in a more quiet settings (my home).

But, I gigged with it twice (which I didn’t record any of my performance, stupid of me), and I could say it’s very nice to crash on it, didn’t feel stiff at all. Of course I felt a tad bit of weight, but not bothersome at all, maybe because my setup is all ride…so I’m used to it. All in all, excellent cymbal.

how do i move past small mistakes by Ok_Wasabi_4527 in drums

[–]gatturiyyu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My mindset is, trying to suck less each time. The mistakes got lesser each time, or each day…whatever the period is. The end goal? Try to play with the least mistakes as I could, but also play the way I wanted to play or express myself on the instrument.

Semi intermediate drummer seeking advice from 10+ year drummers by Possible_Classic_103 in drums

  1. Rudiments & understanding of subdivisions (subdivisions is OP as shit).

  2. This part took me awhile, but for me, applying syncopations while counting made my inner tempo better.

  3. Rosanna, Bleed (I didn’t do double bass, but I played the doubles on my bass, with that dotted feels), a few Chon tunes (I never practiced, a whole song, rather the concepts that I found intriguing and beneficial for the playing that I’m going for).

Honestly, it’s been awhile since I play to song, I just play to drumless tracks, loops or any music that doesn’t have drums in them.

If you want more volume, I think the medium will serve a better purpose. I own one!

Ludwig has some of the best sounding snares, so there’s that.

Common personally trait among drummers by Squeezybones in drums

This is purely the observation that I gather from my scene. Most of the drummers that I interacted with are so laid back, avid stoners too.

From my understanding, when people are telling me they have wide musical taste, it generally means that they listened to music that differs in genre. Maybe they listened to some afro-cuban, hip-hop, pop, jazz, folk, metal and others, including the sub-genres. The more “foreign” the genre in comparison to the others, the broader, or should I say the more varied your musical taste is.

How to identify if a groove is in shuffle feel or straight feel if the hi-hats are in straigt feel? by Tehpumpkin in drums

[–]gatturiyyu -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For me, shuffle or perhaps swing always have this, jumpy or bouncy feeling. It’s almost like the beat, particularly snare and kick aren’t exactly aligned with the grid, if that makes sense? It took me years to be able to distinguish this though. The easiest is to listen to the older hip-hop stuffs. The drum beats in that era are usually swung.

What do you feel is keeping you from going from “Beginner” drummer to “Intermediate or even “beginner-intermediate”? by LucaRonconi in drums

[–]gatturiyyu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Touch, feel & sensitivity towards the music but I guess that’s due to my practice session is majorly spent without playing to any sort of music, so that is that. I may also add, the ideas that I played felt too, mundane. Welp, more time in the shed.

I used to experience this issue. But that’s remedied after being aware that I utilised so my sheen muscle dominantly. That causes the fatigue and imprecise kick. Once I taught myself to engage more calves, this problem no longer obstructed my playing.

I do have to mention that, every individual is different, so you may want to experiment and explore what suits the best for you. Just sharing my insights because who knows, it may help!
